“A terrible Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We had late check in after midnight. The room which we were given was on the 6th floor and the ceiling which was sloping was almost touching my head. The attached bath room was so small, it was impossible to take a shower. Despite request to change the room and despite availability of many rooms, the reception chaps didnt allow us to change. So for three nights we suffered. The only plus point was that the hotel is so close to the central railway station and all important sightseeing places, we could virtually walk everywhere. The breakfast spread was very good indeed and the service was also very good.

“Good for the price”

Given that rooms in the Mercur have no aircon, minibar or trouser press, this is not a Business Class Hotel.

What it is, on the other hand, is a very comfortable hotel to stay in Copenhagen.

Rooms are acceptable in size, and the beds are comfortable.

Bathrooms could be designed better, but they are practical and clean.

Staff very enthusiastic - they seem to really care about guests.

Breakfast definately better than average. Bread comes from a real baker, and there are many options, healthy as well as non-healthy. There are more than a few diabetic-friendly options as well.

Bottomline is: altogether, this hotel provides a lot of value for the money.

You can get better, but you can absolutely get worse as well, and pay more money.

The location of the Mercur cannot be beaten - it's right in the centre, and right next to the S-train station.

I'd rank it as a genuine 3 star tourist hotel, with some extra plusses.

Room Tip: If you want entire silence, ask for a room facing the courtyard.

“Basic Hotel, location being the highpoint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

Visited copenhagen late Novemeber and picked this hotel basis tripadvisor ratings. I was hoping this would be a 3 star hotel, but the only 3 star that i could find in this hotel was the in room tea anc coffee facilities. Although when we checked in there were not enough creamer/sugar/tea bags and i had to go down to reception and fetch for my self. Didn't try breakfast as there were more than enough and cheaper breakfast options around the area.

The only difference between Ibis and this hotel was the tea/coffee facilities

If you are looking for basic hotel that is comfortably located, helpful front desk, comfy bed and don't mind the views or basic in room amenities, this would be a good choice.
Be mindful, this is a very expensive city ( like most of Scandinavia).

“Basic room, good service, but thin walls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

My wife and I stayed a weekend in Mercur Hotel.
The location near the City hall, that very convenient.
The service was great, very polite, and they allowed us checked-out late.
The room was OK, but very simple.
The most problematic issue was the walls, very thin, and we heard all that done in the next room. It was funny, but not professional.

“Good location, clean, but a lot of noise from trains.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Very basic hotel, no frills and no excess, you get what you pay for. Good location.

The room vas very clean, and ok bed, quite small TV and no mini bar or refrigerator in the room. My room was on the 6 th floor, top floor, and there was a balcony. A big minus was the noise from the trains, they were quite loud and if I had stayed for a longer time, I would have requested to move rooms.

The breakfast wad good, basic, but booth warm and hot dishes, with eggs, bacon, meatballs, bread, butter, cheese and more, juce tee/coffie. Free internet in the rooms was a plus.

Room Tip: 6 th floor very noicy ( trains)
