“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed for 3 nights on 12th floor, window to west.

Pros: Good location near railway station and Tivoli. Room was neat and tidy - the basic Scandic style.

Cons: The hotel was very crowded at the time of stay, we needed to queue to breakfast one morning. It was the beginning of winter and the room was a bit cold.

“Renewed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

1st of February
The hotel is being renovated (not yeat finished but I was told that only floor 1 and 3 are still in construction) and the new rooms are quite nice. Very well designed, minimalist bathroom but with heated floor.
The hotel lobby and restaurant are still "old" and quite a mess however, for me, the important are the rooms and the renovations are very welcome.

“Great spot...pity about the renovations!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed at the Scandic Hotel in September this year and the hotel was in the midst of large scale renovations. Although I had booked the hotel several months earlier, no mention was made on any website that they were renovating, or I would have avoided it like the plague. No-one wants to put up with noise and disruption on their holiday.

Day 1 when we checked in we were severely jet lagged and tried to have an afternoon nap. However the floor we were on, which looked deserted (!) was seemingly in the middle of all the action. The drilling and planing noises rattling through our brains at 3 o'clock in the afternoon were not conductive to sleep. After putting up with this until it stopped, around 7pm, we thought a night's sleep would help our disposition.

A rude awakening with the same noises of the previous day occurred at exactly 7am the next morning! After phoning staff and asking what could be done, I was politely told "they were renovating" and noise was to be expected! Not expected at $AUD400 a night!!! I asked to be shifted. It appears they had checked us into a room which was directly below a room they were working on! Begs the question...why put us there!!

I have to say the customer service was pretty surly which we found is not uncommon in Copenhagen. In general they are not that friendly and being Aussies, we're always friendly...especially on holiday:)

Would I stay here again? Not without checking on the renovation status! Good spot though and about a 10-15 minute walk to Stroget, the pedestrian shopping mall, which I love!

Room Tip: The top floors are very nice and the renovated rooms are extremely well designed. Probably one of th...

“Tourist hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011
1
person found this review helpful

Stayed here late December 2011 on business.

Booked one of the Superior Rooms.

Check-in rather chaotic - only one person to check in. A family was using the receptionist's time asking about restaurants nearby. This took at least five minutes of waiting. Not good when five people in a line are waiting to get a room.

Room not up to standards of a superior room.

No minibar, no trouserpress, and no tee/coffee making facilities.

Stains of paint on the table.

Breakfast was a supermarket/cafeteria experience. You must bring everything to your own table, plates, cups, etc., then only to find that the table has been occupied meanwhile.

This is no way a 4-star hotel, but a 3-star tourist hotel.

Room Tip: Be lucky. Have a sence of the absurd.

“Needs the announced renovation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

With three stars I am generous, assuming the renovation will improve things.

The hotel is very much in need of the announced renovation. My room was very much run down, with several things hanging loose. The sauna was half broken. The hotel did not offer bathrobes (even upon request). Teh TV kept on waking me up early in the morning, saying there was a message for me in the reception, and I did not find away of shutting it up!

On the positive side, the location is great, just between the city centre and the lively Vesterbro neighbourhood. Staff is very friendly and helpful and breakfast is decent.
