“Great location, beautifully appointed, friendly staff”

Hotel Mayfair is conveniently located by the main train station in Copenhagen, right by the main shopping district, walking distance to the main sightseeing sites. I managed to get from the airport to the hotel reception in about 30 minutes!!

I did splurge (may be an overstatement as it was an additional £20 for me to upgrade from a standard to a deluxe room on an offer on a travel website) and it was well worth it. The room was not as large as expected for a deluxe room but it was beautifully appointed: comfy large bed, stylish wall paper, very clean, warm and quiet. The bathroom was again small but perfectly formed. Of note, the toileteries provided was pretty unimpressive and I was glad I had brought my own haircare products.
Great TV with English and Danish channels and complimentary WiFi.

The hotel does provide a light supper -- small selection of hot dishes (a soup and a small portion of an entree) with lots of salad, cheeseboard and a dessert. Juice and coffee/tea are included. Whilst there isn't a lot of variety, it is a buffet selection so one can fill up on the food quite easily. Alcoholic drinks are charged for and not inexpensive (as expected for a hotel).

Breakfast is a reasonable affair with a combination of continental as well as cooked selection buffet.

I would definitely stay here again but would aim to book early on a travel website to get an offer on a deluxe room.

“Perfectly Acceptable Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I chose this place because I had an early flight out from CPH airport and wanted to be near the train station. I only stayed one night and I was going to be out all day, so I didn't need a big room.

Which was a good thing - the room was quite small but clean and serviceable. The bathroom was small but modern, and the staff was very helpful.

I don't think I could stay in such a small room for several days, but for one day, it was fine.

Yes it is near several strip clubs but there weren't any 'undesirables' around; I felt perfectly safe as a single woman out and about.

“Central location, outstanding staff but in the red light district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

The Clarion Collection Hotel Mayfair is located near the central train station and can be reached after about a ten minute walk from the station. Therefore, the hotel is very convenient for both seeing the city and for accessing long distance trains and the airort.

I had booked a single bed room which turned out to be quite small, but cosy. For one person it worked just fine. It may have been a struggle with two people. The room had a very comfortable double bed, a desk, chairs and nightstands. My windows overlooked the courtyard in the back of the hotel. The bathroom was small, but workable and very clean. Unfortunately, the closet had been converted into a space for the minibar, so you had to use hangers on the walls to hang your clothes.

The room that I had was the last room down a twisting hall. I was fine with both the room and the location, but if I had been a solo female traveler, I would have asked for a more central room location that did not require me to walk down a hall with so many corners for someone to hide behind.

The breakfast included a lot of options and I was very pleased with the selection. The ground floor has ample comfortable chairs to sit in and lots of guests were taking advantage of the cosy spaces to sit and to read.

The best part about the hotel was the staff. From the moment I checked in until I checked out, they were very personable and professional. They would say hello to me by name when I entered the hotel which was a really nice touch. Overall, I was extremely pleased.

The only downside to the hotel is that the area around the train station is the red light district. There is a strip club across the street. I was solicited by prostitutes when I walked down to the train station. This happened day or night. There are lots of hotels in this area and so there is a lot of foot traffic which makes it safer. But, it is something to be aware of when you make your booking.

Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel and I will stay here again the next time that I visit Copenhagen.

“not impressed”

A good enough hotel, very central. Rooms are quite small, very close to the building next to the hotel. Bathrooms are not for the claustrophobics. Nice staff, the only thing really disapointing was the breakfast.

“Decent hotel with good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

I stayed in Clarion Mayfair with my husband for 2 nights. We chose the superior room as the reviews mentioned the rooms being small in this hotel. We didn't have major complaints. We could easily walk to the city centre passing by the Tivoli gardens and the main station. The dinner buffet was also quite good. The only problem we had was with the heating system in the room. We changed 2 rooms but neither had a heater that was working. But we didn't feel cold as the quilt kept us warm enough. The bed was comfy as well.

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms are above.
