“Great location, nice stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

After 16hrs of travel, we were glad to get here. Staff were friendly, and the bar was excellent. The rooms are on the small side and overheated, but entirely consistent with European hotels. From the hotel, you are a few minutes away from the shopping and 15 mins from Tivoli at a relaxed pace. Plenty of restaurants and other fun stuff nearby. The bathrooms are really wetrooms and are designed for the floor to get wet. The mini bar is well stocked. After a hundred or so Euro hotels, the harder question for me is whether 71 Nyhavn is good value for the money. On balance, I would say yes. There are nicer hotels in Copenhagen and cheaper hotels, but few offer as memorable a stay as this.

Room Tip: Only a couple of euros more for a waterfront room, and well worth it.

“Fantastic restaurant, awful rooms”

Eat here, but don't stay.

Positives - friendly service, amazing food, good bar area
Negatives - truly awful rooms, price

You arrive and are impressed. A stylish building, with a groundfloor that has a modern and stylish lounge with a great bar/restaurant with a good range of local and international drinks and simply the most amazing food I've ever had. So far its great..

Then you get in a rickety lift and go to your rooom. And it all goes wrong. Pokey rooms with tired decor and virtually nowhere to put your stuff. And the bathroom's are worse. Large enough, but with no shelving of any sort, grubby appearance to the wooden fittings and a shower which floods onto the floor (deliberate design) leaving you with wet feet whever you go to the toilet You also have single glazed windows, so have the crank the heating up or freeze, and the TV only plays Danish/German/Russian TV.

Quite frankly I would recommend staying somewhere else. If it wasn't fro the restaurant I'd have given it one star.

“Charming location near the harbor front”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This hotel has an excellent location right at the tip of the famous Nyhavn quarter. Located at the waterfront, you have no street noise, but the sound of boats passing by! Added hereto, right outside the hotel is a bus stop for the harbor water bus, which takes you on an inexpensive sight seeing tour around Copenhagen harbor, though it is considered public transportation (NB! will not take you to the Little Mermaid). The hotel is full of charm, very friendly service from staff, but 71 Nyhavn is a bit outdated and is in somewhat serious need for renovation. The rooms are small, has a distinct maritime feel, and very well blends in with the outside harbor atmosphere. Breakfast is decent. For those who fancy an early morning jogging, you could not pick a better hotel. Leaving the hotel frontdoor and turn to the left around the hotel building and just follow the waterfront all the way in a northern direction while the sun rises beautifully on your right, all the way up to the old fortress of the Kastellet where you will meet many fellow Joggers. You will remember this trip for many years. The downtown shopping area is a small five min walk away.

Room Tip: Remember to ask for harbor view (may cost a bit more) or you risk getting a room facing a wall!

“Small rooms, lot of noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I stayed two nights at Nyhavn 71 with mixed feelings about the place. The hotel is in the upper price segment in Copenhagen so you expect quite a lot. The rooms are tiny with barely enough space for unpacking your flight cabin trolley and a bathroom you have to maneuver around in. After showering the complete floor is all wet. The standard is very nice in the reception and bar area, but the rooms are in a desperate need for refurbishment. Cracked tiles and dirty carpet. The worst is the noise in between the rooms as you can hear the what other people are saying and there is a refrigerator or AC compressor in the back of the hotel making sleeping not all that great. I booked this hotel for three weeks in a row, but cancelled the next two weeks. Breakfast is basic, but tasty and the views are nice if you are lucky and get a room facing the waterfront. I recommend you to go to one of the cheaper and nicer hotels in the area and save an additional 300 DKK per night.

“Cozy, quite, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This is an updated hotel in an old warehouse, right on the water in Nyhavn. Lobby is beautiful, staff is very friendly and helpful, restaurant on site (we did not try but looked good). Our room was small but very beautiful with extremely comfortable Danish-style beds (the best we had in our 2 week trip). Location is perfect - we were walking distance to the palace, Kongens Nytorv, the pedestrian mall for walking and shopping, the Rosenborg Slot, Round Tower, Marble Church, Botanical Gardens, Tivoli. Cozy bar one block away (McJoy's) was perfect, and bakery for coffee and pastry in the morning was just across the bridge, one block. This hotel does not include breakfast, which was unusual on our trip. But there are 6 parking spaces for free (first come first serve basis). Next time we are in Copenhagen we will return to 71 Nyhavn.

Room Tip: We had Room 522 - on the corner. Windows with water view on both sides. We had requested a water vie...
