This is an excellent place if you are looking for a cozy, remote and tranquil retreat in a traditional Danish farmhouse. That said, the little town of Stege is not far by car, it is picturesque and offers a few nice cafés, restaurants and shops.
Our rooms were quaint and colourful in a restored attic, with a shared small bathroom on the ground floor. So not star-spangled quality, but very charming for what it is. Entirely unpresumtuous and that is the style of the guesthouse itself, and the entire island, really.
Most impressive is the uninterrupted view over fields onto the Baltic Sea. The courtyard faces the sea and has a few tables and chairs on which to lounge peacefully while contemplating the immense QUIET off the countryside. There are also some nice flower gardens on the property. However, there is no direct access to the seashore. The sea can be reached in a 10 minute walk along mostly deserted country roads. The narrow beach is only for hardened swimmers though, being rather untidy.
Finally, we very much enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners that were prepared for us. The food was delicious and sophisitcated home-cooking.
Those who enjoy simplicity and meditative peace will be very pleased.
Room Tip: There is a panorama room which offers a beautiful view of the sea. I think all the other rooms only...
