We have been several times to Hotel Legoland in the past, but being the middle of the peak season at Legoland...we looked at a few alternatives, and then booked Legoland Village for the first time. Price was certainly a key factor! It is substantially cheaper for a family of four!
First thing to notice is that the Legoland Village complex is only 500 metres from Legoland itself, with ample free parking (Get your parking display from reception).
Good start.
Lots of families, a little chaotic... but then again what do you except in and around Legoland!
Rooms are a little spartan, more hostel than hotel. But all fine. Coming to Legoland is the main reason for staying, and crashing out after a long day out in the park. You have to hire linen, and make the beds yourself; but again, no problem - again you have to remind yourself it is more of a hostel than a hotel!
No free internet either, but two good things. The fully inclusive deal means you and your kids get to have a solid buffet dinner (not including drinks) and breakfast. Also, a little bonus is the free ticket to the local Billund Bad (swimming pool). It is only a short walk away.
For old time's sake, we popped in to Hotel Legoland for a bite to eat, and realised that although Legoland Village is the cheaper option, it is by no means worse than the more luxury "4 star" Hotel.
If budget is tight, you are far better off here. After all, the kids are super happy anyway, lots for them to see and do at Legoland, and a little saving here means you can splash out a little more in the park itself:-)
In future, I will also check out the other hotels in Bilund, as Legoland Village shows, you can have a nice time elswhere! Legoland Village is a safe bet!
