“Brilliantly located, classy, yet...”

Brilliantly located, classy, yet welcoming oasis of calm, just a minute's walk away from the sights, restaurants and shopping of this fabulous city. If you have luggage it is easily reached by bus from the airport and bus/rail stations.
Feels very intimate and Danish! Lovely courtyard for evening drinks or breakfast and cosy salon with complimentary beverages and nibbles.
Delicious and extensive breakfast sets you up for the whole day.
Rooms are lovely and can be configured to suit your needs and budget. We had a family suite and the lovely staff treated us all as cherished house guests.  Classy Italian restaurant next door will bring your meal, plate and cutlery round for you!
Reception sells the great value Aarhus Pass which gives free bus travel and reduced or free entry to attractions.
We'd love to return here.

“OK for a one night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

Good location on a fairly busy street near the centre of town. For this reason we requested (and got) a quiet room at the back of the hotel although it was a bit of a climb to the second floor. The room was small and the French colonial style just a little tired. But the 4 - poster bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and we had a good night's sleep. There was limited space for luggage and clothes, and the cracked washbasin and very short shower curtain (which meant a wet bathroom floor) did not impress. The breakfast buffet was superb - fresh fruit, cerals, selection of meats, cheeses and bread all very tasty and healthy. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and car parking was free - although about 30 yards down the street from the hotel and through a very tight alleyway. Given Danish prices £115 for the two of us was pretty good value.

“Great below-$200 accomodation”

I had the pleasure of staying one night in a Single Budget Room at Hotel Guldsmeden in Aarhus. On the plus side:
+ extremely central and charming location, yet very silent at night (great sleep quality)
+ very clean
+ very charming garden
+ free internet
+ healthy and delicious breakfast included
+ fresh coffee and selection of teas available throughout the day
+ friendly staff (with excellent language skills)

On the minus side:
- the TV is mounted under the ceiling at an angle to the bed

I think this is possibly as good as it can get within the below-$200 category. I know where I wll be staying next time that I am in Aarhus. Highly recommended!

“Very relaxing, lovely atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2010

Looked forward to staying here after reading other people's comments and it was very relaxing. Had a family room on the top floor, which turned out to be two smallish rooms with an interconnecting door and shared bathroom, which could be locked and separated from other guests. Loved the candles and Billie Holiday music wafting through the hotel downstairs.
There's a separate Italian restaurant which shares facilities with the hotel e.g. if you want a drink in the rear garden, you order it from the restaurant.
Breakfast is delicious with a good range of fresh organic cheeses, meats, fruit juices etc. and chocolate cake!

There was some noise in the night which sounded like the dustmen emptying bins. Also like most of the Scandinavian countries, the curtains are thin, which seems strange as it stays light so late.

There's parking outside on the street, but need to buy a ticket for the first hour of the next morning - check with staff.

If you have children, do 'phone at least a day beforehand to check that they are expecting you. Unfortunately, they let out one of our rooms to someone else, so we had to spend the first night somewhere else that I wouldn't recommend. The staff were very appologetic and offered to pay any additional costs that we incurred and also gave me some complimentary organic shampoo and conditioner. We asked them to 'phone ahead to their hotel in Copenhagen, to make sure that they'd got the children included there and good job we did, because they'd only booked a room for two us. Luckily everything was resolved.

“2star at 5 star rates........”

Had heard alot about this place as the hot boutique in Aarhus. Call for a reservation and was told that the promorate was not available but could book one of the larger dbl. rooms....fine so i did. I We got a tiny dbl. room at the first floor to the street side. I commeted to the size to the reception and was adviced this was indeed one of the "larger" rooms. Checked the fireescape drawings in the rooms and could see that was fare from true. Checked other rooms on the same fllor and again i was confirmed.
-"less is more"...yeah rigth!!
Nevermind we were only there for one nigth but didnt sleep as the noise from the street below is horrible.

Plus points that counts will be the free parking, the cute and fresh breakfast & location, location, location.

Would chose another hotel at my next trip to Aarhus though.
