“overpriced, perfect breakfast and rather rude guy in the reception”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

The women working at the hotel are very nice and caring. The manager is less nice, rather rude actually. The rooms look very romantic on the webpage, but you enter them from an external gallery / access balcony overlooking a parking space and a garage - not so much of a romantic setting! If I go there again, it's for the breakfast, not for staying.

“The best place to stay in Aarhus”

I have been traveling to Aarhus since 2002 and this is my favorite hotel. The location is great and the property oozes charm. In addition to large, airy, beautiful guest rooms, they have a fabulous courtyard, which is a heavenly place to relax in good weather. The breakfast is out of this world - eggs, cheese, bread, fruit, yogurt - you name it! The owners are very experienced and highly responsive to requests. I can't say enough about this lovely place. It is my home away from home. Do ask for a room off the road, as they can be noisy.

“over priced, noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2009

I stayed in a front room, was very noisy, young cheap pub directly opposite - loud music and people outside smoking . also corridors are noisy, you hear people coming and going.
The ameniries for a rather expensive hotel are very basic. more like a motorway budget hotel.
I told reception the next morning about the noise and they told me to request a back room next time, not very helpful as they must be aware of the noise from the pub as i since saw on tripadviser many people complain about it. I was there on business , only got there at 10pm ,and left at 8am, all i wanted was a god sleep and didn't get it, They offered no discount at all, which i wouldn't have taken, but al least show they are bothered.
This hotel is in a great area, and has good character, but if you need a good sleep, be ware. I think it's about 30-40% over priced also.

As we are used to get good reviews at TripAdvisor, we are of course very sorry to hear that one of our customers has had this bad experience here at Villa Provence.

Here at Villa Provence we have 41 rooms in total whereas 6 of them are facing the street (Fredens Torv) where there sometimes can be a bit nosy as we are situated in the center of Aarhus.

When we hear about a complaint about the noise from the street, we normally offer our guests another room which we of course should have done in this case as well.

Best regards

“Not worth the money”

Our expectations were high when we arrived at Villa Provence in the city of Århus, Denmark. Perhaps too high ...

We had booked one of the more extravagant rooms at around 2000 DKK (approx 250 EUR), which is quite expensive for a town like Århus. Anyway, it would have been ok, if our expectations were fulfilled.

"Rude receptionist I"
In their little information map, they claim that they are helpful should you need information about Århus, transportation, etc. During our stay, we needed some information about a local theater a little outside Århus. We asked the guy in the reception (seemed like a "person in charge" or even the owner himself). I asked - politely - like you would ask a person, you don't know for help. He seemed to patronise me, and was rude. His answer was something like "If you don't know it, how do you expect me to know it?". I answered that I wasn't from around Århus, so I was hoping that he, as a local, would know. I ended up finding the information myself.

Dirty bathrobes and "Rude receptionist II"
Later, when we were taking a bath in our beautiful lions feet bath tub, my fiancee found two nice bathrobes in the cabinet. But after putting them on, we realised they weren't clean. Mine had some foundation on it and my fiancee found a used cotton bud in the pocket. - Rather discusting!
The next morning when checking out, we told - the same - guy in the reception about it, and ...... He couldn't care less!!!! I told him I would write a bad review then, but he just looked at me and asked us to pay the bill. Had he just apologised, we would have forgiven it. Actually, now I regrett that we paid.

Had it been a budget hotel at a low price, we wouldn't have bothered, but this is supposed to be a luxury hotel. Well, the suroundings are luxurous and charming, but that's about it.

Ok, one really nice thing I have to add, is that the breakfast was great and tasty, and the waitresses serving it were very professionel. My recommendation to Villa Provence: Make a couple of these great waitresses head of reception and cleaning.
