We had booked a room for four people; two adults and two children. When we came to the front desk of the hotel in the evening, they had only reserved a double room, without beds for the children. We showed our reservation from hotels.com stating a reservation for 2 adults and 2 children. They were sorry, the hotel said, but they had only received a "request" for two children, not a "booking", so they had no room for us, but we could get an extra room, for extra money. The hotel claimed they had done nothing wrong, we had to ask hotels.com what went wrong.
Anyway, we accepted an extra room, but not for double price. Without an elevator we had to carry all our bags up to the second floor. We're quite young so that's ok. When we entered the rooms there was a strong smell of rotten carpets. There were spots of dark mold in the bathrooms, and a dripping shower. We could not find any fire or smoke alarms in the room (is this legal?). The walls were dirty, the cupboard top was filled with dust.
The hotel has a swimming pool, which we tested. The wardrobe facilities were small, but would have been ok if it wasn't for all the empty beer cans, the avocado (!), and empty soap dispensers. The pool water was rather cold (approx. 18 C), and both bubble baths out of order. We had had enough after 10 minutes...
The upside of the stay was the beds, which in our rooms was ok. The location is also in a quiet area. Breakfast had a limited selection, but was ok. (Note that the kitchen had previous remarks from the authorities on hygiene on handling food!)
On checking out we had been charge 100% for the first room and 70% for the second room, which we never ordered. After some quarrelling we got the extra room for 50% of full price. After we had paid, the receptionist informed us that, had we only called in the order in advance, we would have got the room for the price we had been promised.... Right... that's what we thought we had done, via hotels.com, but that was not good enough...
So, in total: A pretty bad experience for us, so I'm sorry Scheelsminde, but I must advice people to stay away. This is not worth the money. On Hotels.com the hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel. I'd give it max. 2 stars.

Dear Gas2 from Trondheim
We are always happy to get feedback from our quests, also constructive. All feedback is used to make us better. We are very sad to hear that you had a negative experience at our hotel.
You have asked hotels.com what went wrong in your booking. Unfortunately we can’t find the answer in your letter. First of all you can’t book a family room at hotels.com. You can book a double room and add in remarks that you wish to have a family room. If you don’t get a confirmation by e-mail or phone call from us, the remarks are not registered. By arrival it is possible to change to family room, but on your arrival date were all family rooms unavailable and that is why you get offered 2 double rooms.
Our hotel has ground floor and first floor. Because of few steps is why we do not have elevator. We have luggage assistance free of charge available. In July/August we had a bigger cleaning process and all our carpets in the rooms were cleaned. This can cause a smell in the room if the carpet has not been dry. We apologize this. We are also started to paint some of the rooms.
Our swimming pool has 27 C. There is cleaning every morning at 8 am and it will be checked at 4 pm. If you visit our pool before this time or in the evening, it is possible to find some things. We have guests using the pool all the time.
We apologize your bad experience at our hotel. If there is something we can do, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards
Hotel Scheelsminde
