“A good budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Friendly reception staff. The hotel is fairly new - about a year old - so everything is functional. It's very central, right next door to the new shopping centre, with parking in an underground car park (costs extra). The rooms, as the hotel name suggests, are designed as if they are cabins on a ship. Therefore they are small and the bathrooms very small. Not too much room for two people to get dressed and ready at the same time. But all in all a comfortable and quiet nights sleep. The breakfast is basic but quite OK, but the addition of a boiled egg would have been nice. Free newspapers (in Danish) in the breakfast room and lobby.

“Cheap sleep in the centre of town.”

The hotel is modern, right in the heart of the city and in the traditional Cab Inn style.

I stayed in a Commodore room which had twin beds. The beds were narrow but very comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room as well as free Wi-Fi. The room had a TV but with a limited number of channels.

Breakfast was served in a large room on the 1st floor and consisted of cereals, breads, meats, cheeses and fruit. There was no hot food but this is typical of the Cab Inn chain.

There is no bar or mini bar but the reception sells drinks and snacks.

There is a supermarket across the road and a modern shopping centre adjoins the hotel.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a centrally located hotel at a low price.

Room Tip: Check the hotel website before booking - Commodore rooms offer more space - Economy rooms have bunk...

“Good Room For A Night's Sleep, But That's It”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

As other reviews have stated, the rooms are tiny. We upgraded from a room with bunk beds to one with 2 tiny beds. Mine was against the wall and I woke up several times during the night due to banging into the edge of the wall. Not a pleasant way to wake up. The television had 3 channels which we briefly looked at, but we weren't too concerned about the television as we just wanted a place to sleep for the night before continuing on with our travels. I will say that we had an awesome view from our window, and it was great to sleep with the window open and the cool breeze all night. The bathroom was tiny. You had to operate the shower (which flooded the bathroom with water when in use because it had no drainage system and opened right onto the floor) by the controls on the sink. There was no way to avoid getting the bathroom soaked. Luckily, they gave us a ton of towels (probably because they know guests will have to leave them to mop up the water after a shower!). We would have stayed longer in the morning, but we could hear what sounded like a chainsaw trying to come straight through the room next door and figured that was a sign to leave as there's always a crazed killer coming for you in movies when couples hear noises like that! We later found out that it was roadwork a few blocks away and the sound was really carrying. Like the title says, it's fine for 1 night's sleep but don't go in expecting anything more than 2 somewhat uncomfortable tiny beds and a crazy shower.

Room Tip: Be prepared to mop up water after you shower!

“Sub-par in every way”

The hotel is relatively cheap, but don't expect any value for your money. The rooms are tiny with uncomfortable narrow beds (almost impossible not to fall out of). We paid for an upgrade to avoid having to use bunk beds, but that was probably a mistake.

There are absolutely no amenities in the rooms, and the bathroom is cramped with only a curtain separating the shower from the rest of the room. In consequence, the whole bathrooms is filled with water when you shower.

When we arrived, our keycards didn't work. We went down to the reception, got them replaced, and suprise - still didn't work. The third set worked for a day, and then they were also disabled.

The reception staff are friendly but not very helpful.

The location is nice in the middle of Aalborg, but there are plenty of other hotels in the same area. You'll probably be better off trying one of them instead of cabinn.

Room Tip: Avoid getting one

“OK concept, poorly executed. Lack of security a concern.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

Good location; part of a mall with large underground parking, however extremely expensive to park for more than 3 hours. Why has the hotel not negotiated a special guest rate - the car park was almost empty. Parking there for the weekend would have used up the saving that we made by staying here rather than at a more expensive hotel (our Aalborg friends showed us where to park nearby for free). Rooms are in the style of a ships cabin. We upgraded to a Commadore room, which was barely large enough for two adults with 2 airline bags. The tiniest room I have ever stayed in, even on board ferries. I have no idea how 2 people would fit into a smaller, standard room. Front of house is nice, as is breakfast area, and breakfast. BUT there is potentially a security problem. The rooms are on floors accessed from the same stair well as the car park - i.e. outsiders can enter the bedroom corridors from the car park without passing reception. Similarly, the guests pass through the bare stairwells, where outsiders could easily hide. As a minimum, there should be security locks (activated by the usual key-cards) to make the hotel corridors secure and CCTV in the stairwells. Overall very disappointed - for 200 Kr (£20/$30) more, we could have had a real room in a real hotel. It was not particularly low price and everything in the room had a feeling of being pared to the bare bones.
