This hotel is apparently a favourite location for hosting polical meetings, in part due to the beautiful surroundings and because it can be easily protected by security as it leads right down to the water. Yes indeed, the location deserves a five star but this is where it ends.

The shower and tubing looks and feels cheap. When you shower you wet the whole floor. Each room is equipped with a wiper you would use for wiping windows. You are supposed to use it on the floor, bend down and clear the water, otherwise you will not be able to use the bathroom and toilet without wellies. I did not have the time to clear the water so put my make-up on in the room.

The wifi was free but a mystery to work out. Apparently so manual tells you there is wifi reception in (and then a long list of names such as south wing, centre wing, and then a name of a wing) but the problem is the key card holder does not say which area your room is. Also, they are supposed to give you a scratch card for the free wifi. I did not get one. I can only assume I was in a non-wifi area.

The breakfast is standard: bund and bread with two types of cheese and some four types of meat, greek yoghourt and fruit. Not a wide range of stuff. However blackcurrant juice was offered which was a first for me. The views whilst enjoying breakfast is stunning (see photograph), looking right at the sea which is as close it gets. That alleviates a bit before paying for an average stay.

Stayed here for 1 night on on way to Legoland. We got 2 rooms for the price of one as we are 2 adults and 3 children. Worked out great. Big hotel with plenty of choices for food. Friendly and helpful reception. A well stocked breakfast buffet with nice views over the Big belt bridge.

Nyborg Strand is a very large hotel located just on a beach at the outskirts of Nyborg, about 20 minutes walk to the city center. Although it looks quite moder from the outside, the interior has not been renovated for a long time. Rooms and bathrooms are quite shabby, and the common areas definitely have their best time behind them. There are two restaurants there, which saves you a walk to the city center just to have dinner. Service is polite but not particularly friendly. Breakfast is rather simple, but freshly made pancakes are a big plus. There is a swimming pool and a self-service laundry in the basement.

This is one of not-so-many hotels in Nyborg, so they can be sure to have clients even if service is average.

- far away from the city center (but OK, if you have a bike)
- old decor, shabby bathroom
- no garage for bikes
