My missus and I (27 and 23) stayed at the Plaza in Aug 2010. We had a lovely time, really relaxing yet close to Skiathos town when we wanted more hustle and bustle and all the boutique bars and clubs. All that is near the hotel is the beach and the beach bar/ restaurant which serves great food. The beach offers some water sports and I tried to show off to the girlfriend by wake boarding! but I only got up once! She was laughing her head off filming the whole thing!!
To get into town we either used the water taxi 3 Euro each or a cab which was 8-10 Euro. We missed the last water taxi into town at 7.30 a few nights as the missus was taking ages doing her hair!
Be careful the reps were selling boat excursions for 30 Euro when we first got there, you can get them in town from the local old boy captain's for 10 Euro!

Overall, Great holiday for relaxation and chilling yet close enough to town!

If it wasnt for the hotel supervisor (cant bring myself to call him a manager) I would describe it as a decent hotel - nothing to write home about. Some problems such as the fridge door not closing properly, stains in the bathroom, our airconditioning control activating the A/C of the next door room, no one to help with the lagguage could be considered minor.
What cannot be considered minor however is the very poor behaviour of the certain person (supervisor), who needs immediately some serious training in customer satisfaction, customer communication and communication in general. The man is a stranger to common sense, reasoning, understanding and to the hotel business.
On our arrival to the hotel and entering the rooms, the bathrooms where not thoroughly cleaned.
The hotel tries to make excuses for all the mishaps, without ever taking any responsibility for the low level of services. On the other hand although they excuse there poor service level on the fact that they are a three star facility, all the hotel logos show four stars, which is deliberaterly left thus misleading the customers.
Unfortunately, hotels like this and the customer service it provides is what has brought Greek Tourism to where it is today, overpriced, underserviced, bad quality, and no hope for the future. If attitudes like the one we faced are not corrected then there is no hope for any improvement. We left three days eariler and finished our vacations at a wonderful hotel just down the road.

My boyfriend and i have just returned from a week at the Plaza. While the rooms are pretty basic (which is one of the down sides to Greece in general anyway)...once you have got past the basic room, the hotel was just perfect for what we wanted. The pool is lovely, staff are friendly and the location of the hotel was probably one of the best on the island. There are 3 places to eat....the hotel itself, the beach tavern, and 'Jonnys which is just down the road. Didnt have a bad meal all holiday. The water taxi which runs every hour from the hotel to Skiathos Town is great..its 3 euros each way. Skiathos Town is the only Town in Skiathos, with lots of shops, bars and restaurants....the rest of it is just difference beaches around the Pennisula. I fell in love with Skiathos, just as i did Santorini, and would go back to either at the drop of a hat. I have a ten year old son who wasnt with me on this trip...while i first thought it was more a coupley place, there were quite a few well behaved children around, and should he have been with me, i think he wouldnt have been too bored. Better to go with children when its school hols when other kids are there. As i said before, if you aren't prepared for the basic accomodation that Greece offers, you may well be disappointed with the rooms at the Plaza ( and most other hotels in Greece)...but once you understand that and look past it....and see Skiathos for the wonderful, beautiful island that it is...you will have a fabulous relaxing holiday here. Dont hesitate booking this Hotel....its location is amazing. Enjoy!!

Just got back from a lovely weeks stay at the Plaza. The hotel is about 100 metres from the beach ( Kanapitsa) , where you will also find a tavena.We didn't eat here, for no particular reason,but we did have a beer (mythos) .Large glass for 4 euro each.It's a nice view to look out to sea and enjoy a nice cold beer. The pick up point for the water taxi, which takes you into Skiathos town ( 3 euro per person,each way) Is on the beach also.They run every hour and last boat leaves Skiathos town at 10.30pm. The beach is lovely and has water sports available. Sunbeds are 16 euro for two beds and a parasole.We spent most of our time around the pool.We counted 21 sunbeds but found we never had to get up at the crack of dawn to put the towels out.We were going down to the pool around 9.00am and there were always beds available.There is a poolside bar and taverna.The food there was very nice and reasonably priced. You can buy water from the bar during the day. A 1.5 litre bottle will cost you 1.80 euro.We walked to the supermarket which is about a 15 minute walk( hilly in places) from the hotel and bought 6 x 1.5 litre bottles for 2 euro. We were putting them in the fridge in our room. No one said anything about us doing that.Breakfast was served on the terrace fom 7.30 - 10.00.A good variety of food.Coffee machine,cereals,preservatives,fresh fruit,greek yoghurt,honey,cold meats and cheeses,fried eggs, omlettes, boiled eggs, pastrys and bread.Its a beautiful view from the breakfast room, but they could do with giving the windows a clean. The hotel is basic, which is expected in Greece.It's clean, but just around the edges.They need to keep on top of cleaning the stairs,floors and windows. The hotel could do with a spruce up as it is looking tired in places.On the whole we enjoyed our holiday and the hotel was nice, as long as you take it for what it is.There are a few other tavaners but in particular i would recommend Jonny's just past the supermarket.
