“Good location but overvalued”

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Nissia for 3 nights at the end of August.
The hotel is in a very good location to stay and walk around Spetses and you can easily walk to the nearest beaches.
The room was nice and clean, with a kitchen to use if you wanted but definetely not worth at all the 220 euros per night. Very overvalued.
We were also disappointed by the breakfast - and again this comes relative to the price we paid.

“I didnt want to leave it, my friends dragged me away....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

I went for a long weekend with friends and I was enchanted by the place; the island of Spetses is a special one, the town is elegant, the streets cobbled without cars, and as you reach the hotel you see an amazing facade which matches the whole atmosphere
The entrance of the hotel is thrilling; as you go up the wide steps you enter the pool area which is like an inner courtyard. The pool is an excellent size and it's set in gardens with the houses facing the pool area; the water reflects the surrounding greenery making it a very calm place. As my particular interest is gardening I noticed the planting which was suitable for a Greek island, with local shrubs and herbs; our veranda had rihosperma climbing the pergola (a type of jasmin) sending delicious scents in the room.
The house we stayed was in good but simple taste, exactly what you want in a holiday. The kitchen fully equipped, the bathrooms large with very strong water pressure in the shower (unusual for many islands), and everything was sparkling clean.
The restaurant was closed but we didnt mind as the hotel is in a central location and it was easy to reach a variety of places to eat. The breakfast buffet was well set out with a good choice of continental and English type menu. The bread and the pastries were well chosen and fresh; the fruits also were seasonal and of good quality; although the restaurant was closed coffee was served all the time as well as excellent cocktails
The pool was open all the time, it was very clean and it had an area with a paddling pool suitable for young children; the surrounding areas well paved with good non slip stones, the chairs comfortable and it had an air of elegance without being unfriendly
The house next to us was occupied by two couples with young children and the way that the houses are set do not allow each house to be overlooked, we felt quite private.
In fact although I would recommend the hotel to people on honeymoon or for a romantic weekend, I would equally suggest it to parents with young children. It's also great for friends to share a house, the verandas are great for card playing and staying up late chatting.
The hotel radiates a calm and friendly spirit, well done to the owners and the staff who keep up a high standard in taste, service and cleanliness. It's an enchanting place

“A bit of "heaven on earth"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

After leaving our cruise in Piraeus we traveled by ferry to Spetses and the Nissia Hotel.
Since we were ahead of the busy tourist season we had the island and Nissia to ourselves.
Dimitri and Martha ( brother and sister who were managing the hotel) were wonderful!
Both were extremely helpful with suggestions and information about Spetses. Dimitri
had kitchen duty and prepared our fabulous breakfasts served overlooking the sea.
Our room was spacious and spotless and had a small balcony with a partial view of the
sea.
We could have stayed a week or more but after only three days were on our way back to Athens for our last 3 days of major sightseeing. We were rejuvenated by the peace, quiet, and serenity of Spetses and the Nissia.

“OVERVALUED”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

The hotel from the outside seems fabulous, a 5 star hotel and espesially when you have to pay 420 euro per night for a suit.

The real thing is that the hotel is overvalued because and the reasons are the following:
1. Biologic Cleanup (sump) smells like hell and we stayed in the hotel for 5 days in a row. Every day we faced the same smell.
2. Extremelly hot. The only way to deal with the temperature of the inside of the room is by using aircondition.

For a suit of 420 euro per night anyone should expect more than that this hotel can offer
