My wife and I stayed here for just one night, due to an unexpected stop in Aegina. We had a ground floor room with a "double bed" (two singles shoved together) which had a nice little patio looking out at the pool. The buffet breakfast was okay and the view from the breakfast room is quite nice. The staff that we dealt with seemed polite and friendly.

The town centre is about a 15-20 minute walk away, which is an advantage in that the Hotel Danae is quiet, although we did not sleep well due to the hard and lumpy beds. My wife got several bug bites during the night - not sure what kind of bug.

In all, we'd regard this as an okay place to stay if the price was really good and if you could find a room with decent beds.

I visit Danae many times a year -mostly from March to June- since 2008 for short getaways. The only good it has is its location, by means of view and distance from city centre. The personell doesn`t meet even the average standards. The only real help I got all these years and as a loyal cutomer was to inroduce me a car rental office. Generally they are rather rude, especially with us the Greeks. The cleaning ladies do a good job, but are not so discrete and a few times they almost forced us to leave the room in order to clean it.
The breakfast, the only meal I ever dared to try in Danae, is very poor and of low quality. It is served 08:00-10:00 and only if it`s your lucky day you can have one or two butter croissants (the morning staff does its best to avoid you by having most of them for theirselves and once I saw even a local policeman parking his patrol car out of the hotel and visiting the buffet for a treat).
Silence and good manners are something unknown by the pool area, no matter what time is it.
Danae is good for having a calm nightsleep and only for this. The rooms are decent, not always deserving its price which varies upon the mood of the owner or the clerk who answers the phone. I recommend it for people who do not plan to spend their vacation inside the hotel, but want to spend time seeing the whole island. Danae is certainly far better from other hotels in Aegina city which charge the same money.

Very smart 3* hotel. Lovely 1km coastal walk into Aegina Town. Excellent sea views. Good 12m pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value. Particularly recommend room 301 for families. Great place to see Greek weddings at weekend.

We stayed in Aegina for 3 nights after staying in Athens in 7. I wish we'd done it the other way round! We loved this hotel, we had an amazing view of the sea, it was a 10 minute strole from the port. We walked down into the town to eat each evenning and after dinner we got an icecream and sat on the harbour walls, the view was amazing :)

The room was a good size, very clean and had a comfortable bed. Nice balcony area with table and chairs with a perfect view of the pool and sea. The bathroom was a little pokey and the shower door stuck a bit and could have done with replacing but it was no biggy. Our room was cleaned and towels changed every day.
Because we stayed in low season the pool bar wasn't open and the hotel restaurant wasn't open in the evenning but it's not far away from the town centre where there were lots of restaurants to choose from. We were pleasantly suprised to find the price of foods and drinks were slightly cheaper than Athens.
We had breakfast there but I wouldn't recommend the coffee, the rest of it was a typical greek breakfast of yoghurt with peachs, toast and bread with jam and honey, fresh fruit and a boiled egg and juice.

The only niggle I had was that on our last full day at the hotel they were carrying out mainatance around the pool, cutting trees etc and this started at 7am! by 12 though I couldn't wait any longer and I grabbed a sun lounger and they got the hint lol. The pool was freezing so I only dangled my legs in it, it was full of bugs too.

All in all a lovely hotel and I'd love to go back but next time I'll go in high season.
