“Ideal Stopover; don't miss visit to Kalavrita via rack and pinion train”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

This is a nice mid size hotel in the little village of Diakofto. It is in the perfect location for the train through the scenic gorge to Kalavrita and you can safely walk back down the track, back to the hotel, allow about 3 hours.

The hotel is clean, has lots of parking and a nice pool with plenty of loungers.
The owner Paula is very helpful and is a perfectly fluent English speaker. She offers good advice on the surrounding area and can arrange for tickets on the train ; the station is 2 minutes walk away but at times seats may not be available as there are only a few trains daily up through the gorge to the village. Breakfast follows the mandated tourist board recommendations and for non Europeans may seem a little unusual with yoghurt, honey, bread, egg, cheese, juice and a piece of cake but that is the way it is. There are tavernas in the surrounding area if you look for them, and the one at the little harbour, a 10/15 minute stroll, and on the water is excellent.
I have been to Chris- Paul Hotel several times over the years and recommend it highly

“Peaceful, comfortable hotel in a citrus grove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

This was our second visit to the Chris Paul hotel, and we were not disappointed. Our room was clean and spacious, and we enjoyed the swimming pool where there are plenty of loungers to relax in. The hotel and grounds are extremely peaceful and are set in a citrus grove. The staff were helpful and friendly and gave us good advice about the rack railway. The rail trip is definitely worth it, with great views of the gorge.

We also walked to the sea (about 15 minutes walk) and had a lovely meal in one of the waterfront tavernas. The taverna in the village is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel and is also very pleasant, with tables in a shady courtyard. There's no written menu, but the owner takes you into the kitchen to choose, and the prices are reasonable.

“NOT RECOMMENDED”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

The hotel has rooms with normal size and clean enough. The problem is that all rooms are the same since hotel's opening in mid 80s with the addition of a/c. The breakfast that was included in rate was two piece of cake 5 piece of bread and bars of marmalade plus filter coffee.

“Perfect hotel for the Diakopto - Kalavryta rack and pinion railway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2010

We totally agree with all the good reviews, this is a little gem of a hotel tucked away in lemon groves in Diakopto. It is a short stroll to the railway station, for the rack and pinion railway and also the main Corinth/Patras station. The swimming pool is just lovely with comfortable sun beds around and nicely secluded behind the hotel. The rooms are good, with comfortable beds and lovely crisp white cotton sheets. Despite the poor rating in the Lonely Planet guide this is the best hotel in the area and has a good and friendly staff, helpful and charming.

“Bright, clean, comfortable small hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the owner and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

A quiet place to stay in the little town of Diakofto in the Pelopponese on the Gulf of Corinth. Situated just off the town centre with parking and a pool surrounded by orange trees. Great for visiting the mountains and gorges and with some good restaurents and a pebble beach if you want it. Try Costas for excellent food or the Fish restaurent opposite the harbour. If you want a real treat try the famous Rack and Pinion railway uop the gorge to the town at the top.

The owner Paula is delightful, extremely helpful and speaks excellent English.
