“Perfect hotel for the Diakopto - Kalavryta rack and pinion railway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2010

We totally agree with all the good reviews, this is a little gem of a hotel tucked away in lemon groves in Diakopto. It is a short stroll to the railway station, for the rack and pinion railway and also the main Corinth/Patras station. The swimming pool is just lovely with comfortable sun beds around and nicely secluded behind the hotel. The rooms are good, with comfortable beds and lovely crisp white cotton sheets. Despite the poor rating in the Lonely Planet guide this is the best hotel in the area and has a good and friendly staff, helpful and charming.

“Bright, clean, comfortable small hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the owner and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

A quiet place to stay in the little town of Diakofto in the Pelopponese on the Gulf of Corinth. Situated just off the town centre with parking and a pool surrounded by orange trees. Great for visiting the mountains and gorges and with some good restaurents and a pebble beach if you want it. Try Costas for excellent food or the Fish restaurent opposite the harbour. If you want a real treat try the famous Rack and Pinion railway uop the gorge to the town at the top.

The owner Paula is delightful, extremely helpful and speaks excellent English.

“Lovely friendly hotel”

This is a clean and comfortable hotel and the staff were very helpful and friendly. When booking they asked if we wanted to book the rail trip and we were glad we did as it was full with a Greek coach tour. They also helped when our luggage was delayed and phoned the airline to advise the nearest coach station to send it and gave us directions. Breakfast was good and was taken next to the wonderful open fire, it was quite cool when we were there in early March. Our room overlooked the lemon grove, and although basic was nice and quiet.

“Brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2006

Three of us stayed at the Chris Paul for 1 night when travelling round Mainland Greece. We got a triple room, with 3 separate single beds, a nice - but basic room, had all we needed though.
A resonable price paid, but the real star was the lady at reception - firstly she tipped us off that we needed to book tickets for the Rack + Pinion the next day - she was right, it was a sell out! (It doesn't say that in the Lonely Planet!)
Then, she gave us all the info required to try & get to Delphi from Diakofto via the Egio - St Niklaus Ferry. And to top it all, she found a hotel in Delphi for us, as all the ones we tried were fully booked, & booked it up for us by telephone (and the Delphi hotel was marvellous too!).
Also, when we arrived after an evening out, they opened their small bar for us!
Ever so convenient, THE place to stay in Diakofto - just remember its not a Holiday Inn, its a basic hotel, but more than enough for a indpendent budget traveller.

“Superb hotel, wonderful location”

Diakofto is a lovely village and the Chris Paul hotel is an ideal place to stay whilst visiting. The rooms are clean and spacious (I think all of them have balconies as well) and the hotel is set on the edge of the village in the middle of an orange grove. The train station for the rack and pinion train into the mountains (recommended) is 2 minutes walk away, and the beach is 1km away. Staff are helpful and attentive.
