This was our 2. trip to Samos - we went there 4 years ago and felt in love with the city of Pythagorion and Samos.
So we booked a cheap flight and found a hotel with a fair price.
Spend a fantastic week at Remezzo Hotel - located at one of the best positions in the little town Pythagorion - with great weiw over the habor and close to the tervernas and the mainstreet - with a lot of great restaurants!
And also there is a fantastic sandy beach suitable for both children and grown ups.
If you walk a little longer to the other end of the habor (500 m) you will find a pebbled/stoned beach suitable for snorkling. Both beaches has sunbeds for hire.
The booking of the hotel was made by writing an email to the reception and everything went by without problems - and we got quick response and a great service!
We had " The appartment" with 2 bedrooms and the most beautiful terrace shaddowed with winegrapes hanging over our heads. An outside livingroom, where we spend some nice time in the shaddow reading, playing cards and with a lot of space for a baby to play !
Furthermore we could use the big roofterrace with the most beautyful seawiew - and breakfast were served there every morning, cooked by the owner himself, who made different dishes every day. Nice food and fair price.
The rooms were nice and clean - and had free aircondition and safeboxes.
The beds were okay, two nice beds for the grownups and a babycut for baby - but we think that the additional sofa-bed would have been better for 3 smaller children, as our two grown up teenageres had to sleep across 3 sleepingplaces - and it wasn´t quite made for that - it was not that comfortable - they said!
But we think they sleept quite hard in the mornings even though...
The bathrooms were functionel but quite small, - but what else can you expect living in an old charming townhouse made into a hotel. Have seen worse! And they were cleaned and well equipped with new towels every day.
The location of the hotel is in a quiet street - without traffic - and you can walk to everything within few minutes.
As it is placed upon a hill, you have to be in a good condition.
We brought a baby stroller and some places we had to lift it up some steps but it was not a problem. But sometimes we felt very hot walking home the 300 meters up the hillside:-) So a nice shower was taken!
We can for sure recommend a stay at Remezzo Hotel - it has to be one of the best hotels placed in the town of Pythagorion - a little oase in a beautyful city!!!
The service were exellent, the owners were charming, kind and very helpfull.

This must be the first description of Remezzo Studios located directly at the port of Pythagorion and does not really have anything with Hotel Remezzo to do, but that it is the same owner and you have the option to use the hotel facilities. The rooms are charming, clean and with a lovely balcony with direct views over the harbor. It is as Greek as it gets and the host family lives even at the top and are uncommon helpful.
Definitely one of the best studios in Pythagorion - so good that we return again this year

We had the pleasure of staying at the Remezzo Hotel for a week in early July 2009.

While I appreciate that the last reviewer has attempted to give an honest and balanced review, I do think he/she was a little harsh with regards the overall rating.

Owners Lia and Vangelis were most hospitable and helpful, the accommodations were clean and comfortable .. and yes there were some things that one could find fault with.

True .. the shower was abysmally small .. something that we came up against just about everywhere we stayed in Greece. The matter of having 'clinging' shower curtains and wet floors was not just peculiar to the Remezzo. And if you are a bigger guy like me it is a particular problem. And .. although security might have been improved upon, we never felt particularly vulnerable to intruders.

Perhaps we were just a little more fortunate in that we did not pay extra for air con nor the use of the safety box. Our room did not have fridge but there was a fridge downstairs in the pantry, well stocked with drinks which we were able to procure.

Given the overall rating you have given the hotel I am surprised that you chose to stay there as long as you did, given that a lot of alternative similarly priced and even cheaper accommodation was available in Pythagorion at the time. But then perhaps you paid in advance?

Overall .. we felt the positives more than outweighed the negatives at the Remezzo and we would be delighted to return there.

Not being from Europe we were rather surprised to find hotel prices in Greece generally much higher than we would have expected and wanted. Be that as it may .. we were to still rate the Remezzo as our second choice for the whole of Samos, only being pipped by the Hotel Iro at Agios Konstantinos which proved to be quite exceptional.

We stayed at Hotel Remezzo for two weeks Summer 2009.

Positive:
The hotel is closely situated to the harbour and the beaches in Pythagorion. The hotel roof terasse holds an amazing view over Pythagorion. The balcony has space for two persons and place to hang your towels and clothing. The outer doors on the balcony were very sound and sunlight proof.

Negative:
According to Star Tour the hotel was rated as a 3 star plus. We could not understand that this was correct, since the standard of our room equaled a 2 star. Surely, after a couple of days, our thoughts were confirmed as a chart on the door informed that the Greek government had rated the hotel as a 2 star.

The room itself is okay, with standard single beds (2 or 3). The bathroom on the other hand was very small (about 1,5 meter x 1,5 meter) and was not in the best condition. The shower was very small (65cm x 65 cm). And unfortunately, every shower was a constant battle against the shower curtains willingness to cling against your body! :(

The security of the hotel is poor, since the reception is left unattended for the most of the time. In addition, the balcony doors had no real lock. Especially, when living on the ground floor, you feel a little more vulnerable for theft. So we had to buy access to the safe of our room. In addition we always kept our suitcases locked.

Keep in mind that although the room rates might seem okay, both air condition, refrigerator and safe fees will come in addition. Air condition 4, 50 euro per day, refrigerator 4 euro per day, and safe 10 euro per week.

When it came to the cleaning of the room, the floors were cleaned every day as well as the night stands. But the bathroom facilities were cleaned less often. We received two small soaps the first day of our stay, and that was it. No more soap after that. The sheets were changed 3 times during our 14 day stay, and we got new towels every other day.

In conclusion we were disappointed with the hotel service and standard. But as long as you keep in mind that it is only a 2 star, you might not get as disappointed as we did.

We would recommend Pythagorion as a travel destination. The atmosphere is amazing, and it is easy getting to know the people. Pythagorion holds many types of beaches, small shops, cafes and restaurants, and it is very calm and relaxing. We would definitely go back to this city :)
