Spent one marvellous week at Hotel Remezzo and Studios in Pythagorion last year in Mid-Aug together with a friend of mine. Star Tour has rated the hotel as a 3+ hotel. I'll say it's more like a 4. It's my abs favourit hotel in Pythagorion, and I've seen many of them after a season as a tour rep in Pythagorion in the summer of 2002.
First of all the hotel is very clean, compeared with Greek standard. It has a stunning view over the harbour (if you get a room at the 2nd or top floor) and it's totally quiet - since it's located in a tiny, little street with no traffic what so ever. The streets are really narrow and for this reason no cars or busses can drive passed the hotel. If you travel with a tour agency they will send your luggage separately with a tiny little truck and you have to walk for 3 min to reach the hotel from the transfer-sight. But that's really not a problem as long as you don't have any walking-disabilities. If you're handicapped I would probably choose to stay at another hotel, since Remezzo has a lot of stairs and no elevator. Doryssa Bay could be an alternative, since the transfer buss can drive all the way up to the hotel and leave you off at the reception-area.
Even if Remezzo doesn't offer any pool area or mini-bar - the location of the hotel, the cleanness and the beautiful view make up for it all. Vangelis and his wife will do everything they can to make your stay as perfect as possible.
If you ever get the chance to go to Samos I would also recommend that you rent a car (Aramis is a great choice) and stop by the open-air movie theatre up in the mountains in Mitilini, some of the restaurants in Kokarii, the waterfall in Potami and last but no least stop in Ireon for an icecream or a drink at Rainbow Café and bar. Manolis, the owner, makes the most fantastic icecreams on the island!
Have fun at Samos!!!
