Superbly located by the main square in Vathi, in halfway in between the bus terminus and the ferry port, the Artemis has a front entrance on the port side and a rear entrance on the pedestrian street.
Costas and his family seemed to have owned the hotel for many years and a building like this and the rooms will inevitably be showing some signs of age. The rooms were clean but a little old fashioned. Again probably because of the age of the hotel there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the room that we had. We had room 8 which faced into the inner courtyard, and it was very quiet. There was free wireless internet which was very useful, though you will need to ask for the WEP key.
There was a fridge and a fan, however air conditioning was an extra 5 Euros. Costas and the family were friendly and we were happy to go back to the Artemis and Room 8 on our return trip thought Vathi. It was good value at 30 euros a night in June
