My wife, adult daughter and I stayed at Emily Hotel for one night having taken the ferry from Kusadesi Turkey and stopping in Samos before traveling on to Athens. The hotel is very conveniently located close to the ferry area. Take a right as you get off the ferry, turn right, go past Hotel Samos and turn left. The hotel is located couple of minutes up hill. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Very convenient small hotel with very good service. The owners will suggest places to go and see. We rented a car for the brief time we were there (25-40 euro for the day) and this let us explore the island, see the Tunnel, the ruins and place where Pythegoras was from. Our only complaint was the air-conditioner never worked.

I arrived here last night and was looking for a room locally. The owner could not be bothered to show me a room, he just sent me up to the room. He wanteed 55 euros/night (for a single room) which is a ridiculous price for this standard of accommodation in low season. No wonder the hotel was deserted.

On asking the owner if he would lower the price (as I had been offered lower elsewhere), he simply said any lower and he would rather close the hotel.

Whilst I am very understanding that there are overheads, this kind of attitude, especially when Greek tourism is suffering so much, is unacceptable.

I walked 30 seconds down the road to a much friendly hotel called Hotel Helen. The owner was very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. And her first price was 25 euros per night which was offered without me asking for anything cheap. Thank goodness for owners like this that can see Greece needs to stay competative.

Stayed here twice in September 2008 and liked it a great deal.It is a simple establishment run by a (?divorced) couple who are friendly and relaxed. Rooms are simple, but have a/c, fridge, hairdriers, TV (though no foreign channels), balconies. Madame speaks several languages.Breakfast is on the simple side (no fruit) but adequate. The charm lies in the very agreeable atmosphere and friendliness of staff.

This was a lovely hotel situated in a very convenient location close to the ferry port and shops/town. To get to the hotel from the ferry port, turn right onto the main Street. You will pass a hotel on your left called Samos Hotel. At the first road on your left, turn onto that. There should be a sign as well which says Emily Hotel turn left. Keep walking up the road (pass a small crossroad) and up a slight hill. The hotel is on your right. Overall about a 5-10 min walk from the ferry port.
The staff is nice - but be warn they have a siesta break between 2-5pm in the afternoon so you won't get much assistance then. Even if you ring the front desk bell numeral times like I did. The rooms were big and spacious and very clean indeed. A couple of our rooms had the airconditioning dripping in strange places though. Ours dripped in the bathroom just short of the toilet so we had to sit sideways on the toilet to avoid getting dripped on! I believe that was room 402. But the other rooms should be alright. Apart from the little quirks, still made for a very comfortable stay in a clean clean hotel.
