We were in Thessaloniki for 3 days on business and chose Park Hotel because of its central location as well as the recommendations we received from a family member. We are a married couple so we asked for a double bed (instead of two twins) and a high floor.
Well, we got the top floor (7th) and a double bed but ... the size of the room (704) was for half a person and certainly not for 2! It was impossible to move around without one of us laying on the bed because we would practically step on each other! However, our two fellow colleagues each had their own twin rooms (hosting 1 person), which were about double the size of ours! And the hotel was practically empty....
When we asked why this was the case, the reception replied that it was because we "asked for a double room with a double bed and not twins"..... (please, go figure this one out, we certainly couldn’t...!)
Other than that:
The location is very good, in a quiet area but in the centre of the city. The room has been renovated, but in our case quite badly since the shower area was incomplete (there were missing tiles). Moreover (and this was a first) the light switches were placed on the bed headboard but at such a low level that we would accidentally switch the light on while moving during our sleep...! Finally, breakfast is just ok, limited to something to keep you from going hungry in the morning.
All in all: it could be a descent 3 star hotel if it paid more attention to detail. The staff (including the manager) need to adopt a better attitude towards guests and their (standard) requests. Unfortunately, we checked out feeling that we merely had a bed to lay at night and a room we couldn't wait to leave behind us!
