“Four star rooms, service. No pool, gym, spa.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This is a fine hotel. But it is not a five star property. In fact, without a pool it is cheeky to claim four stars.

Having said that, the best features of this hotel are:

A clean, modern, well decorated interior and public areas.
24 hour reception.
Decent, friendly service.
Reasonably sized rooms where everything works.
Free wi-fi with ok speeds.
A very good breakfast.

The breakfast has a good enough range to please most diners, without going over the top with any great features such as smoked salmon, an omelette station, freshly squeezed juice.

Dinner was ok. Pretty nice food without being exceptional. The dining room is a good environment, linen tablecloths, silverware, proper wine glasses.

The bar serves quite a good espresso. They also have a cocktail menu and whilst the cocktails command a high price (€9-11) they are not going to win any awards.

The hotel is really geared towards the business traveller with conference rooms, work desks in the rooms, meeting places.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property, unless you need a city location, or a gym, pool, or sauna.

“Good enough, but only as 4 Stars hotel!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The first impression is that no one is waiting for you at the reception? There was only one man working on the comp, so I had to take the trolly and than to bring my suitcases in the room by my own. The interior could be more fancy and the breakfast a bit more rich? Nice place to stay for the value of money, but definitely Good enough only as 4 Stars hotel!

Dear visitor,

thank you for taking time to write a review on your stay at Porto Palace Hotel.
We are glad you appreciated the value of the establishment. The absence of a bell boy at the reception was completely incidental and is by no means the hotel standard. If I could have the date of your stay, I would be able to further investigate the case.
I would like to invite you to our hotel once you are in town again, in order to give us the chance to prove the quality of a 5-star hotel service. Looking forward to accommodating you at Porto Palace Hotel again,

Sincerely,

Konstantina Mamada

You can find it easy, just entrying the city on the wright.
It's a renewed building apparted with two floors. We got there with a friendly family for the newyear's day .
The stoned hall for the fiests is big and gorgeus. The revegion was very good orginized,so we enjoyed all the balkans together. The business room was nice and clean. Also all the stuff was polite. The food as the breakfast as the dinner was nice.

“A great atmosphere near Thessaloniki's harbor.”

Nicely designed and large rooms, with excellent beds and very pretty bathrooms with mosaic tiles, free wireless. The breakfast is state-of-the-art with international standards. The location was not in the centre of Thessaloniki but close enough with bus or taxi. The only bad think is that the parking area doesn't have security services.I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

“Not bad, not great either”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

This hotel should really rank closer to 4 stars rather than 5. Everything is good but not very good. It is big and nice but could be more modern, service could be a little better, they SHOULD not let you carry your own luggage to the room (unbelievable but true), the rooms could be more updated (although they are good & decent), bathroom should be a little bigger, it could have better heating/cooling inthe room and so on... The one thing that is truly bad is food. I ate lunch & dinner in the hotel all days, I have to say it was bad. Except for breakfast (which was very big & nice but in a very, very, black-dark room) everything else I tasted was either complete tasteless- so much it is hard to put it in words. All in all a descent hotel lacking the wow-factor with bad food.

Dear guest,

first of all, I would like to thank you for taking time to write a review on your stay at our hotel.

We are disappointed that our services did not reach your expectations, but unfortunately your review gives me the impression that is is somehow biased, as you seem to have already found another hotel in the area that suits your tastes better.
We will take into account your views on our concierge and banqueting services, however your consistent (as claimed) preference to our restaurant's tastes does not portray your discontent of the food served.

Given that there is always room for improvement, we will do our best to do 'more' for our esteemed guests.

Hoping that we will have the pleasure of accommodating you again in Porto Palace Hotel.

Sincerely,

Konstantina Mamada
