“It is clean and simple”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2011

it is clean. breakfast was satisfying. not the best but not the worst either. we stayed at a room at the back, it was quiet, overlooking the other buildings but no disturbance.

Room Tip: we stayed at a room at the back, it was quiet.

“Loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2011

I spent a long weekend in January at this hotel and enjoyed my stay there.

I was alocated room 505 overlooking Ag Dimitriou street. There was a comment about street noise, however, in my experience, the noise was minimal and unobtrusive. The room was spacious and so was the bathroom with furnishing and fitting all brand new.

The matresses were spotless and comfortable. The duvet cover and pillowcases were changed daily and so were the towels. Everything smelt clean and fresh. A great advantage was that there were no annoying hidden air-freshners.

Breakfast must have improved based on previous comments because there were scrambled eggs, bacon and bougatsa (thesalonian sweet or savoury cheese pie) that were hot food. There were also pork and turkey ham (of excellent quality) feta and yellow cheese, olives, tomatoes, cereals, a variety of fresh bread (that could be tosted) honey, jams, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee etc which I found very satisfying.

The receptionists were very polite although the morning lady was a bit cluseless as far as giving us advice on excursions/distances/time.

The hotel is pretty central but not in the center. It is a 3min walk to St Demetrius church, 5min from Egnatia and Tsimiski str (shopping area), 15min to Aristotelous sq and Ladadika (food quarter). Some walking is required but the neighbourhood is safe and easy to reach. Taxis to get around the center are cheep (e.g. 5 euro from the White Tower to the hotel after midnight/ 3.5 euro daytime)

Parking is not very difficult in the area considering this is downtown, it's just not always exactly outside the hotel.

Overall:Loved it!

“Rooms with night noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

We were allocated a room that looked over Agios Dimitriou. Initially it appeared very pleasing. However when trying to sleep it was very noisy. This came from the street, although the windows were double glazed the streeet noise was incredible. Lasted all night long. Hence very little sleep.

This hotel serves a buffet breakfast. It was the same every morning no variation and very little choice. The housekeeping was lax. The cleaning was below par, one day only leaving us one bath towel .

A pleasing aspect was the service provided in the lounge bar in the evening with very pleasant staff with prices the same or less than found in the city bars.

“Really nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

I've been in Dvaitel Tobacco hotel in July for a weekend, due to a wedding I had to witness in Thessaloniki. Well, Tobacco hotel proved to be a really nice choice. I stayed there with two friends of mine, having reserved for a triple room in a very affordable price (75 euros per night).

The room was big enough to host us very succesfully. The furniture was nice and modern, and the room was also (self regulated, acoording to what you wish) air-conditioned.In general, I couldn't find anything but positives for the room. Very clean, excellent sleep quality. The room service was also amazing.

Furthermore, the hotel's stuff, would be characterised as professional. They will surely not steal your heart with their behaviour, but they are good professionals. They provided me with a cell phone charger, since I forgot mine at home, and were willing to give me some more extra stuff I asked for (a... bottle of fire water).

The breakfast was quite good, but, to be honest, I expected something more than what I saw.

The only real negative of this hotel is the location. The road were it is located is not very nice and will not... satisfy your requiring friends at this point. It is an excellent hotel though, although it is not really as close to the city centre (meaning Aristotelous Square) as you will expect. But it's not that far either.

Wireless Internet is available everywhere, but you will have to pay the extra charge. However, there's a perfect computer on the ground floor, next to the central lounge, open to the public.

Well, I had an excellent time in Thessaloniki the days I was hosted at Tobacco, and I would surely recommend it to others.
