“Close to the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2008

Me and my wife stayed there for seven days. The hotel is situated very close to the beach so it is perfect to sit at the pool take 20 steps and a swim in the ocean and then go back to the pool. The staff is very nice and the prices for the room is reasonable 70€ per night. Clean hotel very quiet, normal nice breakfast. Wireless network worked nicely,
There is very limited nightlife, if you seek that, book another hotel. No watersport nearby the hotel so I think it can be booring if you jut stay there for a fortnight and dont travel around a little. The price in the poolbar and in the restaurants are high but there are plenty of cheaper oppurtunities in all the tavernas close to the hotel. The small rooms and bathrooms have been mentioned. So totally I can recommend the hotel.

“Disappointed”

From reading the reviews on this website I was really looking forward to a relaxing weekend away and to be welcomed by friendly staff.

To cut to the chase, the reception staff are just awful. I have never experienced such unwelcoming and unfriendly people in my life. On a number of occassions I asked for their advice and they just gave a frosty and extremely unhelpful response.

In addition, on the Saturday of my stay the whole of the pool and bar area were closed for a wedding reception which was inconvenient as there is not a great deal else to do in the village. The beach is only 10 m away but there are only a handful of loungers. I was kept awake until 2am with music like The Prodigy's 'Firestarter' blasting out from just underneath my balcony which overlooked the pool.

The food in the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food that you get and you would be much better to go to the little tavern next door where you can get a decent meal for a third of the price and be welcomed by the jolly patron.

On the upside, the rest of the hotel staff, apart from the reception are friendly and the hotel itself is immaculately clean. The bathrooms are really small but all of the above would not have really mattered had I been able to extract a smile and a hello from the reception staff who often looked at me like I was from another planet. I ended my trip a day early because I was so fed up with the way I was treated.

One last word of advice. If you are planning to come to this hotel, make sure you bring enough cash to get you to and from the airport as to get to nearest ATM is a bus ride from the hotel to the next but one village along.

  • Liked — The pool area
  • Disliked — The reception staff

“Nice hotel - quiet surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2006

I recently spent 4 great nights at the Galaxias with my boyfriend. The hotel is very comfortable & exceptionally clean. Though I agree that the bathrooms are TINY.

The beach is about 2 seconds walk from the pool & there are enough sun loungers to go around. Eating at the hotel was relatively expensive when compared with the ample number of traditional greek restaurants only 10 mins walk away. Most restaurants in the village have English explanations on menu as well as Greek.

If you want great bars, this is not the place for you. Plenty of restaurants, but we only found 2 bars!! Very much a Greek resort though its also a favourite with Germans.

This area (particularly near the beach) is occupied by many stray dogs (big ones!!). Whilst I was quite nervous of them at first, they really just mind their own business & leave you alone.

A lovely hotel if you want to chill out, relax & enjoy good Greek food.

“Thin clubbers only.”

Stayed 5 nights. Hotel comfortable and friendly. Rooms on the East side overlook a road that construction traffic used 0700-1600. Public rooms more impressive than club room which had a very small bathroom. People of ample girth would have a problem even entering the room.
Good location, many bars/restaurants nearby. Hotel restaurant impressive if a little expensive.
Pool area excellent if a little public.
We would return

“Some nice touches”

Spent a week in the Hotel Galaxias Beach near Thessaloniki - Very nice decor (perhaps a little over the top with bedroom chandeliers), cooked (if you want it) breakfast and superb a la carte dinners. Location could be better (its in between two villages and the beach is only average) - pool good. Internet service was down when we were there much to the annoyance of our daughter - We liked the place - they try very hard and a nice touch was to say breakfast was complimentary - We thought for the morning they announced it but it was for the whole week - Enjoy
