“The Worst New Year Evening I had in my life!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

For sure we met 2012 the worst way in our lives in Porto Carras Hotel in Sitonia, Greece.
I would recommend everybody to stay away from this property in any case and season!
The so called 5 stars hotel was leaking from everywhere - a buckets was situated in the lobby to collect the leaking water from the ceiling. They also call their hotel a "SPA Hotel"...
The SPA center consists of miserable small pool where plaster was falling down of the walls.
The "Original Turkish Bath" was in fact simple small steam room...
Can you beleive that they left 1000 people to spend New Years Eve with buffet dinner that was no different then a regular one with nothing like a program or even without simple fireworks. They even did not offer us a glass of sparkling wine!!!
If you were there to see in what condition was the outside pools left you will never use them in the summer!!!

Room Tip: Never go to this hotel!

“If they keep the prices low enough, we would definitely come back”

It is OK value for the money. Don't exp too much and you will enjoy. However, consider buying a sunbed as they lack ones.

Room Tip: take a side sea view

“Porto Carras Experience”

We spent 2 weeks in Porto Carras. One week, july 201O, in Sithonia Hotel and another week, august 2011, in Meliton Hotel. When we entered the hotel complex for the first time we were astonished. The combination of sea view, marina, huge green landscape, vine yards etc. plus the architectonic uniqueness of the hotels is just awesome. Our stay in Sithonia Hotel was really pleasant, the rooms were comfortable, the staff was kind and the food was satysfying. My friends and I specially ejoyed the beach, which is perfect, and water sport facilities. Concerning sport facilities, Porto Carras is very well equiped (tennis courts, golf, horse riding, diving academy etc) and we took a great advantage of it. For our second stay, we went for Meliton Hotel, which is in the walking distance from its twin hotel Sithonia, just situated right next to the marina. I got to admit that compared to Sithonia, this is a real delux hotel. The view from Meliton Hotel sea-view rooms is really the one which takes your breath. The atmosphere of the hotels is not the same, Meliton Hotel gives you that kind of "this is something special" feeling. The food was slightly different, hard to say, which hotel is better from this point of view. To sum up, staying in Porto Carras Resort is a great experience, no matter which hotel you pick.

“Hotel Porto Carras, Sithonia”

We spent a week at this hotel as a holiday package organised by Travelsphere (Page & Moy) .
The hotel is one of two similar hotels within a short walk from one another.
Our room overlooked the sea & the gardens. The gardens had several swimming pools and bar areas with covered areas adjacent to enjoy your drinks. The beach was equipped with many loungers and parasols and many people were swimming.
Our package was Ultra All Inclusive. This meant 1 bottle of house wine & 1 bottle of mineral water upon arrival in the room. Two bottles of mineral water per day.
During Lunch & Dinner, unlimited mineral water, soft drinks & local beer & House wine.
Between 11:00-12:00 and 16:00-17:00 in the Wet Bar there was Filter Coffee, tea, cakes, cookies, ice cream and mini sandwiches available.
Late snacks in the main restaurant Mediterraneo 23:00-24:00. Childrens buffet 18:00-19:00
Unlimited beverage consumption 11:00-24:00 in the Purple Bar including beer, house wine, coffee, tea, 3 alcoholic 2 non alcoholic coctails. Local & imported Spirits. This was our favourite bar where we had excellent service from the staff who worked together ie there was no job discrimination and we always got a smile. Don't forget, everything we ate & drank was included in the price.
There was a free Dotto Train which went via the marina where there were many expensive cruisers all with radar and the latest navigation equipment, up to the winery where you could have a wine tasting but you had to pay for this. We didnt need to pay for a tasting, we had already drunk all we needed at the hotel! The train returned via the Horse riding stables and the Golf course, the trip took 1 hour and trains left every hour.
We took a boat to Neos Marmaris €2.50 Wed was market day. Another day we walked along the beach it only took about 20 minutes to reach Neos.
The room was excellent, we were on the 1st floor with a balcony.
The Mediterraneo restaurant was buffet service with a huge selection of salads and delicious cooked food. The soups were delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient.
There were also 4 Themed nights per week, Italian, Greek, Mexican, and Polynesian.
From Monday to Friday you could "dine around" in other restaurants per a set menu, this had to be pre arranged. The general feeling was that the buffet was better. They had an organisational problem during our stay so it took a long time to get served in the other restaurant apparently.
We don't usually return to the same resort but this hotel was so good we would definitely consider it. We also definitely recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Overlooking the sea probably best but the Hotel is in a quiet area anyway. We needed to make sure th...

“Fantastic hotel complex at Porto Carras in a very exlusive beautiful area of Halkidiki in Greece.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

PORTO CARRAS HALKIDIKI GREECE – SITHONIA BEACH HOTEL.
The Porto Carras hotel complex with its two five stars hotels and marina are situated in a secluded fantastic place surrounded by the best green landscape of pine and olive trees, vine yards of Halkidiki area in the North of Greece near Thessaloniki.
During end of August 2011 I have once again stayed with my wife and friends for a week on HB at Porto Carras Halkidiki at Sithonia Hotel. I have also stayed in the past at Meliton hotel at Porto Carras but staying at both hotels I believe that the room sizes and comforts at both hotels are the same and so there is no need to pay the extra 25% or more for the Meliton hotel.
The Porto Carras hotels are situated in a property of 17,000 acres surrounded by pine forests, olive trees, vine yards and nice green gardens. The Porto Carras hotels have their private sandy beach of about two kilometers long with free sun beds and sun shelters for all residents. The sea water in front of the two hotels (Sithonia & Meliton) is very warm and especially in the mornings which was my preference to swim with my family and friends.
Since we were on half board basis we were having breakfast and dinner and sometimes lunch provided that we had to inform the hotel. Breakfast was very good with a big variety for all tastes. My favorite was yogurt with cornflakes and on top of it with the best local bee honey. The dinner or lunch was plentiful but not exceptional and limited variety. Next time we will be on BB basis and eat ala cart.
The hotel residents were from all over Europe with Russians, at least this time, were the majority. There are a number of swimming pools on site for grownups and children. There is also kindergarten for small children and babysitting. Each Porto Carras hotel has its own Spa. Next to the hotel complex there is a big marina and other restaurants and souvenir shops. You can visit all these places by just walking or by the hotel free of charge train. For those interested in horse riding or golf or any other activity you can ask the reception and take part. In Sithonia hotel there is a big casino where you can visit by paying a small entrance fee but you have eligibility of free drinks.
For those who like to enjoy a snack or have their coffee or drinks they can have these every evening with live music. By the way the Porto Carras is very famous for its excelent wine which you can have in moderate prices. On site you can visit the Porto Carras winery and taste various homemade wines.
I have visited both Porto Carras for six times and I will visit them again because these are situated in a paradise area with the best sea side and it is highly recommended for families with small kids in late June and late August and early September.
