We'd never stayed in Nidri before and were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation
The rooms were clean and fresh ,the staff were helpful especially when we forgot the code to the safe! The deposit for which is refundable by the way! The location is great and we used Hotel Athos as a base to explore the Islands both by hire boat and by road. There are so many pretty bays to visit. We had a great time, one day touring in a jeep the next on scooters.We also visited the tavernas on nearby Megassini which we reached by hiring a small motorboat.
Set at the far end of Nidri bay the hotel seems to be in a quiet location ,the worst feature is the waste land at the side of the hotel which is simply a vacant building site.We feel the hotel offers good value for money and we'd definately go again.

Hotel is fairly good, friendly,quite as stay was at the end of september10, although the hotel accomodates Sunveil -so was decended upon for the last day which spoilt a nice leisurely day.The hotel is basic but nice for a 2 star. Towels are supposed to be changed twice a week, but only changed once -as with the bedding.
The view from most of the rooms except 3 are facing either walls, half built buildings, with waste ground,our room faced the waste ground which as near the beginning of the stay was decended upon as I can only describe as Greek Gypsies.They went out during the day selling carpets, had a tent table and chairs, burnt rubbish,and the most desturbing of all---I witnessed on a few occassions,a young girl came outside of the tent,dropped her pants and had a C- - -P!!!!! and just threw the paper in front of her!!!. Even cats cover it up!!!!Diabolical-disgusting view

Just back from Nidri and I have to agree with Salarman that this is a poor hotel. The shower was broken and the drain in the bathroom clearly had not been cleaned for a long time judging by the smell. When you padded around around the room after a shower you could feel the grit on the soles of your feet. How anyone can think this is a good place is beyond me. No one on the Neilson flotillas we spoke to had a good word to say about the place. Exception is the Tree Bar which is good fun but this is not run by hotel staff.

I stayed at the Athos as previously I had used their lovely pool whilst on holiday 3 years ago and staying at the Eva Beach which did not have a pool.

The room was small and so was the balcony but clean and comfortable. Large mirror and dressing table, lots of wardrobe space and plenty of electric sockets for hairdryer etc. the free air con was a bonus as in June I went to Zante and had to pay for this.

The whole hotel was very clean, pool area was quiet except on change over day, location perfect, breakfast average, snacks the usual poolside food. Staff were ok but not particularly friendly, the owner barely spoke to anyone and the girl at breakfast looked like a frightened rabbit!

Tree bar was a nice touch, very lively and a good social place to meet. Angie and Vicky were always on hand for a chat and not forgetting Teeny Tiny the 'Security' cat who had her own bar stool and Eric who curled up on my knee one afternoon for a cat nap!

The only downside would be the 'hostel/ boarding house' next door which was full of our Russian friends and was never quiet, cars, bikes, people in and out constantly and they were always shouting too each other loudly and aggressively. I suppose you ca't choose your neighbours but spoilt the peace from my balcony.

Would def go again and I am thinking about booking with Neilson and trying my hand at a yachting holiday next year!!
