having just returned from the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday for many years, i felt compelled to put pen to paper and provide a review.
Lefkada is a sunningly beautiful island, with glorious beaches and great restuarants. its easy to get around , although a hire car is the best way providing flexibility and travel at your own pace, especially on some of the non asphalt mountain roads!. try lefkada for a day out shopping and sightseeing. kyra in the mountains for lace and visit Kathisma and Milos beach for glorious sand and sea.
we stayed at the Stella apartments, fabulous accomodation, maintained to superior standards by Stella and Savvas. Stella and Savvas are truly lovely individuals, professional and competent, whose only aim is to ensure you experience a great holiday. They have a wide depth of knowledge of the island and surrounding areas and go out of their way to share the information with you , ensuring you always have to hand the best places to visit, eat etc.Their friendliness and high quality standards certainly enhanced the overall experience.
Apartment 5 has faboulous vies over the bay of geni and we spent many a relaxing hour over breakfast enjoying the view.
Lefkada and definatelyt Stella apartments are on our list for a retunr visit. The sooner the better.

These clean and comfortable apartments are situated in a perfect location in the very peaceful Vlicho bay withinin walking distance of several excellent tavernas. There is a superb bakers only 5 minutes drive away plus a small minimarket, with larger shops a little further away in Nidri. The apartments are very basically equipped so if you want to self-cater anything other than a snack it is almost impossible - there is no oven and only one full size electric ring plus one very tiny one. Also although they sleep four don't expect four of everything - with many items there were only 2 or 3 of each. The pool is lovely and is kept beautifully clean but can get very crowded as both the pool and the bar are open to the public. Any drinks must be bought from the bar unless you want to stay in your apartment to drink. We were told off more than once for having a bottle of our own water by the pool! The bar was often open til very late in the evening causing a considerable amount of disturbance and making parking difficult for the residents. Equip the apartments fully, keep the onsite facilities for residents only and allow some flexibility for own drinks around the pool and we would give it five stars.

We'd previously sailed around these Islands and visited Sivita which prompted us to try Lefkas as a two week break. The drive from Preveza airport on the mainland to our apartments in Geni took approx. 50 minutes. The apartments were clean and roomy with an upstairs bedroom, shower room, balcony and a downstairs living/kitchen area, shower/toilet and another balcony. The hosts Stella and Savas kept the pool and surrounding area clean and tidy and the apartment areas were brightened up by lots of potted plants with citrus smells. Stella and Savas were the perfect welcoming hosts and always had a smile and chat despite their very long days. Most guests were charmed by their very polite daughter Katerina, splashing about with guests.
The location of the apartments was great for motor boat hire, right on your doorstep, and made it very easy to nip off and explore the coves and beaches both Lefkas and neighbouring islands. Within a few minutes’ walk from the apartments there is 5 tavernas of which we tried 4. They all served good food, my personal favourite was the Sea Side taverna. A drive to Vasiliki (for a day trip to Kefalonia) took 30 minutes, and a drive to Ndiri took 15 minutes.

I have never felt compelled to write a holiday review before but after our excellent holiday at the Stella apartments I decided to make an exception. From the moment we arrived, Stella and Savas were the most perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The appartments themselves were great and the location is perfect for touring the island either by car or boat. As much as we really enjoyed our sightseeing and boating trips to nearby islands it was always a pleasure to get back to our base location, where our daughter would swim for hours with Katerina and we could enjoy a cold drink(with green lemon) while looking at the view of the mountains and various boats and sights in the bay. We do plan to return.
