I have been there for leisure, but also to participate in the entry exams of an MA program. My accomodation lasted for 4 nights. The hotel was convenient for me to go on foot to the various classrooms for the exams (not all exams were held in the same building), but apart from that, the hotel is situated in a bad and abandoned area.
The sign next to the entrance door says that the hotel exists (at the same place, I assume) since the 1800s, if I remember correctly. The corridors are narrow, the carpets need to be changed and in general there is an aura of oldness in the place. However, the room was comfortable and warm (I mean, in terms of the temperature. In terms of the decoration... it was OK), while the bathroom was nice and neat (as nice and neat one would expect a hotel of that category to be). We had our TV set, blankets and clean sheets and we were generally satisfied with the cleaning ladies and the room.
The breakfast room is on the first floor, next to the reception desk and is comprised of fried eggs, bacon and sausages, ham and cheese, orange juice, milk, cake, etc. which are all tasteful. There is also coffee, but if you want a different type of coffe, there is no problem: the ladies there are willing to make it, upon request (within limits, as far as the options are concerned, I suppose). However, the extra amount we had to pay to have access to the breakfast room (8 euros per person and per day, if I remember correctly) is not justified from the menu.
The personel is neutral - slightly-friendly in attitude and always kind. Also, we had no problem with the cleaning ladies, while, as I said above, the ladies in the breakfast room are willing to help you, so that you can enjoy your breakfast.
What is more, the hotel can provide its customers, upon request, access to its wireless internet connection, with no charge.
To wrap up my impression, I think that the hotel is more expensive than it should be for what it offers. To be more exact, a friend that lives in Corfu and works in the public sector told us, after we booked the room, that with the same price she could find as a 4* hotel, just 400m far from Konstantinoupolis Hotel (special price, of course, due to her working position and her acquaintances).
P.S.: A tip: do not even think of eating at one of the restaurants that are nearby. They are too expensive (at least the menus of those that I checked). Seek for something less tourist-oriented, within the narrow streets of the old town...
