“Wonderful Holiday”

We stayed at the Almyra in August 2010 and can highly recommend the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and polite. We read the trip advisor reviews before we left and feel some of the negative comments were misleading. The walk down to Fiscado is really only 10 minutes and there are street lights all the way from the hotel to town. The mini bus ran to timetable for the duration of our stay and the driver would do double runs if there were too many guests. The hotel food was a blend of Greek and English, but there is plenty of choice in Fiscardo, although some of the restaurants were slightly expensive. The near by village of Antipata had 2 great taverna's. The beach's are almost all rocky in the North expect Myrtos, but the hotel pool and bar was so nice it made up for it.

“Excellent all round”

My wife and I have just returned from a week at the Almyra and it was excellent, we travellend with Exclusive Escapes who were very efficient. We went for one of the Superior Rooms which had a stunning view of the sea, and a four poster bed, it was charming.

Unless you are very unfit I would ignore the comments about it being a hard walk back from Fiscardo, it is a 15 min up-hill walk but it is excellent for walking off the dinner, my wife who was 6 months pregnant had no problems whatsoever and always enoyed the stroll back. We did not use the courtesy bus which seemed to run to schedule.

Staff in the hotel are very friendly, the number of repeat customers was testament to the service and the breakfast was excellent, if you want egg and chips go south to Zante.... you will be most welcome there.

“Perfect for a quiet week in the sun”

Don't quite understand some of the negative feed back for this hotel, No it's not ultra swish with flatscreen's, wetrooms, spas, etc etc, but it's also a lot cheaper than hotels that are. You pay your money and take your choice.
If you want a nice quiet week in the sun this place hits the button, the pool during our stay was always very quiet during the day (and yes the hotel was near enough full), making it perfect for just sunbathing and reading.
The room was clean and comfotable with quiet air conditioning and the breakfast was more than adequate.
Fiscardo itself reminded us of a Greek Dartmouth/Salcombe, very boaty with a wide varirty of yachts to go look at.
Definitely worth hiring your own motorboat for the day and go find your own cove/beach.
It's also worth mentioning exclusive escapes who we booked with, have been with them 3 times to different places and we have always found them really easy to deal with and willing to help with whatever you want.

“Realxing week's stay at Almyra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

Just returned from a week with my boyfriend at the Almyra in Fiskardo, Kefalonia. We booked last minute with Exclusive Escapes having booked a week off but being undecided on where to go. I booked car hire through them just for 3 days, but on arrival were told we would have it for the whole week at no extra charge, which was a nice touch.
Despite reading some negative reviews prior to leaving, we had a really nice time. We stayed in a standard hotel overlooking the sea to the north, which was very nice. The room was very clean and comfortable enough. Breakfats consisted of a buffet of nice breads, meats, greek yoghut, fesh fruit etc. With all that heavy Greek food in the evening, who needs a full English (several comments read about lack of this on this site).
The pool was lovely, though we only really spent a couple of mornings here having a car we drove off for the day to find nice beahes...Myrtos Beach is a must, the colour of the sea is amazing. Also, Iraselum is lovely.

Food wise, we took the stroll down the hill eavery evening into Fiscardo and alos back up again at midnight to walk off the feta, brad, moussaka etc etc.

Relly recommend this for a quiet week away, more for couples i would say.

“"It ruined our holidays..."”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

Even though you get a nice first impression, at the end you wish you had never chosen this hotel...
The unprofessional, unreliable and insolent behaviour of the management is one of a kind.
First of all, they gave us a price in the check in which they raised in the check out...claiming that the employee had made a mistake at the deal. I don't care if your employee is incompetent, I made my decision on a particular price, you can't change it on the last day...
As if that wasn't enough to mess up our day by arguing with a person who hasn't the slightest idea of how to run a business, she tryied to charge my debit card twice because the machine had no paper to print...
Concerning the building of the hotel; the bathroon had not a vent nor a window...it wasn't so clean for a 4 star and the paper was put in a filthy place.
In such a beautiful island as Kefalonia, Almyra hotel managed to give us such an awful experience and wreck our holidays irreversibly.
