“Fifties meet 21st century in marvellous location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

This nice traditional hotel has been renovated recently and I very much liked the old mixed with the new: the interior is very new, clean and modern, while preserving some classical elements from the original fifties design. The elevators are a blast!
I found staff to be friendly and competent.
The rooms have all the basic comforts, without the frills: if you're into opulent luxury, look elswhere.
Free wifi throughout the property. We had a few drinks at the bar and I liked the character of the place. Breakfast was OK.
The only negative aspect I could really find was the impossibility to drive up front, seeing that the promenade on which the Lucy is located is traffic free. This, on the other hand, means you can just walk outside and stroll along the sea, taking in the views and enjoying all the bars and restaurants without being bothered by traffic.
All in all a good experience and I would not doubt to recomend the Lucy if you need to stay in Chalkida.

Room Tip: Splendid views on the ever changing currents in the Euripus straight from the front side rooms

“A mixed bag”

The hotel is situated right next to the old bridge of Chalkis, on the waterfront, next to bars, taverns and ouzeris. Consequently, the location is the best aspect of this hotel. We used the hotel to hold a wedding banquet, and I used two rooms of the hotel: a double room and a suite.

Building: The rooms, hallways, bar and lobby are well-maintained and clean. There are also two event rooms. All rooms have balconies and large closets. The sound-proofing is OK, but when there is a party downstairs (as well as in the bars surrounding the hotel), the noise may be bothersome.

Facilities: There is free wifi, with relatively good coverage throughout the hotel.
There is also a small garage, where one can park their vehicle for 13 EUR / night (a bit expensive). Finally there are some spa-type services, which I did not use.

Restaurant: The breakfast was adequate, but nothing to write home about. We had one lunch and one dinner. The pasta was sub-par, but the meat was good. The service is adequate.

Banquet: The banquet room is spacious. The food was much better than in the aforementioned lunches and dinners. The service was quite good. However, the DJ was horrible and unfriendly.

“Doesn't deserve its four stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We spent a weekend at the Lucy Hotel in Khalkis (room 317). On the positive side: Old-fashioned, but renovated, spacious rooms, free WiFi connection (didn't use it to check the speed), well equiped bathroom (but very weak hair-dryer), central location with splendid view (if you get a frontside room - we didn't). On the negative side: Noisy room, broken curtains, no direct access to the hotel ny car from the street (we had to leave the car on a busy street and carry our luggage to the hotel reception), no sufficieny parking space (13 places for over 90 rooms - and these against a high daily rate), the most expensive rooms (so-called appartments) are on a narrow side street and face a residential building at 3 meters distance (thus no privacy (see photo), no possibility to use the balconies, which, on top, weren't furnished with chairs or a table. The reception staff was not very helpful in adressing our complaint). Missed: A dust bin in the room, face tissues in the bathroom, pencil and notepad near the phone. Breakfast OK, room service just average. Doesn't deserve 4 stars.

Room Tip: Don't let yourself be lured by the

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

It is always a pleasure when I can file a report about a hotel that is positive, and this is just such a report. Good rooms, helpful English speaking staff, free internet, reasonably sized room and bathroom. Good breakfast, a contemporary, modern decor, I could go on and on.

Minor points, parking in their basement is an adventure. Getting in, parked and back out will test any driver and some of the angles wouldn’t be permitted elsewhere in Europe, and you get charged 13 euro a day for the privilege, but the alternative is to find somewhere yourself in the town.

Other minor point, not necessarily bad, but worth noting. If you get a room with a balcony on the front of the hotel you will be treated to a beautiful view along the water front, however the bars and restaurants stay open through the night. If you’re on holiday this might be good, but if you have small children, or are there on business and need to get up the following day, you’ll not get an “early night” so perhaps better to forego the view, but get some sleep.

No restaurant within the hotel that appeared to be open, but probably not a lot of point when there are a couple of dozen places to eat within a few hundred metres of their doorstep.

Otherwise, great hotel, great stay. Would definitely use again.

“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2010

Just the best location, infront of the sea and in the heart of the town, modern and very clean rooms, a modern hotel (although I stayed there as a child, 30 years ago!!!), good breakfast, friendly stuff. The bar should be better, it has not the proper atmosphere and there aren't games at all such as buckgammon, chess etc
