Makis camping is located in camares and it is about a five minute walk from the port. When I walked in to Maki's camping the first I noticed was the size of the camp site. I remember thinking to myself "wow that's it, my friends backyard is bigger than this place''. Sifnos has only one camping so it was awfully crowded and impossible to find a decent spot to pitch your tent.
There are only a few bathrooms so there was always a wait, however they were super clean. A mini cafe snack bar is located at the entrance. The selection of products is very limited,a ham n cheese sandwich, crackers and a few soft drinks and thats about it. Another bad thing was that the staff didn't speak Greek , just a few words in English.
The guy that ran the place was extremely obnoxious. From the moment we got there, I did not appreciate his attitude at all, it was like he was telling me ''look if you don't like it , get out of here, we could care less''. I was honestly amazed at how rude he was at times and the worst part was his annoying smart aleck character. Planned on staying 5 days, left after 4.

We traveled to Sifnos with our two teenage daughters. All of us loved the atmosphere at Makis and had a hard time leaving after 5 nights to explore another island. We just kept wanting to go back to this mellow, friendly, relaxing campground. The staff was always so warm and helpful. We felt like one big happy family of French, Greek, Americans, Spanish...Makis made sure that everyone was content. The bathrooms and showers were clean. Makis has made attention to details and even has music piped into the bathroom on little speakers! The beach is a short walk across the road. The care served good espresso and frappes. We hope to make it back there again and stay for 2 weeks.

I stayed in Makis camping for a week...It is one of the most organised campings i ve stayed in.Very clean, many places with shade to shetle, small kitchen,mini bar with breakfast and a small variety of food for lunch or dinner,quiet and suitable for young travelers and families as well.I totally recomended it if you like this kind of vacation.

Why stay in expensive apartments when there is a fantastic camp site just across the road from the beach at Kamares. This camp site is reasonably priced (which can be negotiated), well equipped and has extremely clean amenities. The staff work non stop. Makis is most welcoming and helpful (even down to his ‘free gift’ of a spare toilet roll. The addition of being able to hire a tent with bedding is most convenient.

The local people of the town port of Kamares were most friendly although it is well worth visiting the other highlights of this beautiful island.
