“Relaxed, great location - why stay anywhere else?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

The hotel is literally on the only road from the port which can make it very noisy but it's fun sitting on the small balcony and watching everything happen below you.
You will be about 8 metres from the beach, and within 2 minute walk from the port, plenty of shops, restaurants and supermarkets.
Sifnos is a great little island with real character. The food outside of this main town is incredible and so are the beaches so get a rental car and go and explore.

“A special place that is value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2009

We stayed at the Hotel Stavros guest house in September 2008, the first island on our 5 week Greek Island holiday. The guest house was fantastic value for money and had a wonderful view of the Port. Apollonea (the main town) was a short bus trip for a nice change in scenery and meals, try the roof top restaurant. Hiring a moped on this little island is safe and is also the best way to get around all the gorgeous beaches, all of which have taverna's but are not over run with them. Walk to the 'floating' church if you're up for a challenge - sitting on the porch of the guest house at night the church seems to float in lights high up on the mountain. Kastro is also a must for a real Greek Salad and dip in the rocky bay. This was my favourite of the cyclades islands and it is hard to plan a european holiday without it.

“Excellent base to see the island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

Our first visit to Sifnos (regular visitors to other parts of Greece) and I found Hotel Stavros in the 'net. The hotel is exactly as desribed by others here - very clean and tidy, fairly basic but reasonable sized rooms, with a central location in Kamares. The street outside is full of life (busy traffic when the ferries arrive otherwise just pedestrians - in September not many tourists, just the locals going about their business). And when you close the balcony doors the noise outside disappears. We arrived from Athens on a ferry that was delayed by 4 hours but Stavros was still there to meet us at a quarter to one in the morning. The owners are extremely helpfull and also have hire cars at very competive prices.
Recommended.

“warm welcome to Sifnos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2009

I stayed here my first few nights and then rebooked for a few more!
The owners and staff are friendly and accessible. Any question, any request is greeted with a sincere smile.
A true pleasure to stay here! My first time, but I met many people at the hotel who have been coming to Sifnos and staying at the Stavros [or the sister hotel] for 20+ years!

“Made you feel like family - nice, clean rooms, wonderful view from balcony”

We spent most of a 2 week vacation staying at this hotel and were never disappointed. I traveled with my parents and my brother - we are all adults, but it was my and my brother's first visit to Greece. We came off of the ferry late and were greeted by the hotel owner to help us with our bags and to show us our rooms. The balcony offered a spectacular view of the cove and a small church on the surrounding ridge, which we didn't get to see until morning and it blew us away - absolutely amazing!

Our shower had hot water and the room had a nice kitchenette with all of the silverware and dishes. The room was cleaned and tidied daily. The main office had a 'take one, leave one' library where I found several books after I had finished reading all of mine.

On the island you make friends readily - we were taken under the wing of frequent visitors who knew their way around and by staff in surrounding restaurants and bars. Stavros cafe was a nice place to have a frappe every afternoon, a panini for lunch or especially breakfast. Local art shops and a grocery are close by and the beach is clean, with flecks of mica in the sand (not rocky like some beaches in Greece). The hotel owner coordinated a rental car for us one day and got us a discount. Very accomodating and very nice. My parents have stayed at the Stavros hotel now three times in the last three years and wouldn't dream of trying to stay anywhere else. I feel as if I could visit again and feel just as welcome as a family member who has been away for a few years.
