We spent most of a 2 week vacation staying at this hotel and were never disappointed. I traveled with my parents and my brother - we are all adults, but it was my and my brother's first visit to Greece. We came off of the ferry late and were greeted by the hotel owner to help us with our bags and to show us our rooms. The balcony offered a spectacular view of the cove and a small church on the surrounding ridge, which we didn't get to see until morning and it blew us away - absolutely amazing!
Our shower had hot water and the room had a nice kitchenette with all of the silverware and dishes. The room was cleaned and tidied daily. The main office had a 'take one, leave one' library where I found several books after I had finished reading all of mine.
On the island you make friends readily - we were taken under the wing of frequent visitors who knew their way around and by staff in surrounding restaurants and bars. Stavros cafe was a nice place to have a frappe every afternoon, a panini for lunch or especially breakfast. Local art shops and a grocery are close by and the beach is clean, with flecks of mica in the sand (not rocky like some beaches in Greece). The hotel owner coordinated a rental car for us one day and got us a discount. Very accomodating and very nice. My parents have stayed at the Stavros hotel now three times in the last three years and wouldn't dream of trying to stay anywhere else. I feel as if I could visit again and feel just as welcome as a family member who has been away for a few years.
