If you want romance and the friendliest people imaginable then go to Sifnos! My wife and I opted for a more laid back island as compared to Santorini or Crete. I was a little hesitant at first. However, there wasn't a moment at the hotel or on Sifnos I would trade in. The views are fantastic. The atmosphere is truly romantic. The FOOD is too good to be true. Take a trip down to Platys Gialos Beach (10 min cab ride from Appolonia) and eat at some of the restaurants there. My wife and I walked every morning to Appolonia, the Island capital, which has some of the best shopping to keep the wife happy. Across from the bank there is a small ally-way that leads you up to some of the best places to eat-drink-and shop. It took about 15 minutes to walk-but the weather was so nice and the scenery was great. But I would recommend renting a car if you want to explore the island.
Bella Vista was really great.. they had the cutest cats that would just hang out with you. We stayed in the actual windmill there and it had everything we needed. The breakfast in the morning was great, the pool was beautiful, and the owners were willing to help you with whatever you needed. All in all it was the best time I've had in a long time.

At our request, the owners prepared a birthday meal that was great even though there were no cook yet at that time of the year.

We have stayed at the Bella Vista a number of times and think it has the best views on the island. The views look down across olive groves towards the ancient town of Kastro and the sea below The rooms are built in traditional Greek style and we found the beds comfortable. There's a good size swimming pool and most rooms have a terrace if to sit and enjoy the view. Breakfast was good with a selection of local produce including cereals, yoghurt, cheese, olives and locally made breads and biscuits (from the wonderful bakery in Artemonas).
I would recommend hiring a car to get around the island to the wonderful beaches, although if you prefer to walk there are good walking paths or the bus station in Artemonas is only ten minutes away. The owners, Georgos and Margarita both speak English and were very helpful.

The hotel is standing on the top of a hill overlooking the most picturesque village of Kastro and the Aegean. In the afternoon you could see from there also 5-6 other islands. The rooms were spacius but the bathroom small. The breakfast was a bit poor but had all the necessary, except eggs, There was somebody in the bar all day long in case we needed coffee, drink or something to eat(though we only had a couple of omelets).Walking to Artemon was about 5-10 minutes. Over there, there were some restaurants with home flavors local cuisine, To Artemon square there was transportation to all places of the island and the Apolonia was about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel has a big parking area. We had a good time there!
