The hotel is nice and roomsare well decorated. It has two very nice pools, one for small children too. BUT there're on e big problem: location! It's on a hill top and there's ALWAYS too much wind. You basically cannot have breakfast outside, you cannot use the pools and you can hardly sleep at night because of the swirl of the wind! Even when on the rest of the island there's just a breeze of the Meltemi, at the hotel it's almost impossible to walk because of the wind.
For the rest, rooms are quite large, bathroom is a bit small and cleaning is ok (not too much on the floor thought). I would judge ok the hotel overall but the windy position makes it negative.

We have been 6 nights at Lighthouse. Their web site is very well done, but the use of wide angle gives the feeling that the appartments are bigger than they are in reality. Our appartment had a separate bedroom with 50 centimeters around the bed.
The position is good, near Faros, the construction beautiful, but it is a pity that our appartment was so small. By the way, Lighthouse is not cheap.
Our conclusion is average.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse Hotel, but there are a few quirks: a rental car is an absolute must, even if you dont plan to explore the island. Sophia was kind enough to drive to the bus stop to pick up our luggage, but we immediately understood that it would be very unpractical without a car. We got a battered Fiat Punto through the tourist office in Apolonia - charges were quiet steep, and that is consistent with pretty much everything on the island. The island is beautiful, but it can get a bit hectic at the tourist hot spots and it is very obvious that the locals need to earn their annual income in the summer months. Unfortunately that results in ridiculous charges for nearly everything, and sometimes unfriendly behaviour - it is a captive audience...

Faros is a very quiet fishers village with a couple small beaches and a few restaurants. Avoid the local supermarket - not only are they ripping off every hapless passant, but they are mean & rude on top of that - we were not the only tourists complaining about this little outfit.

The hotel room is very nice, great views, 2 balconies. very clean. Agree with one of the previous reviewers that some basic items are missing in the kitchen (a kettle,...) - whereas a tv and a stereo indeed feel a bit out of place - this is a hotel that invites quiet lounging...

Sophia is very helpful - not sure what happened to upset the previous reviewer. The owner did not interact with patrons and only seemed to pop over to get his Porsche cleaned...

Unfortunately we had to reduce our stay from the planned 7 days to 5, as the ferry to our next destination only ran twice a week. Even though we advised the hotel on the second day, they were adamant we had to pay the full week. Admittedly, that is consistent with their cancellation policy, but I was hoping they would go the extra mile...

If you make the mistake and choose to stay at Lighthouse hotel, then you should take the following into considereation:
- the hotel is not in walking distance from the beach or Faros village. You need a car for any transportation
-the reception closes from 3-7 so if you need anything during these hours, well, you just won't get it!!. You can't have a quick (or any) bite in the hotel and the closest tavern is not in walking distance.
-the rooms are spacious but with moisture, to get a sea view you have to get out on the terrace.
-the pool was not as clean as it should be (there was sand in it)
- the hotel manager is rude, offfensive,unfriendly. In addition to that, the receptionist is unable to make a decision on her own (she always has to check with the manager, who is not available or willing to co-operate most of the times, so......to get things done is quite an issue!!
Need more? Then just stay at Lighthouse hotel as I am sure that your staying experience will be.....memorable too!
