“Great place from which to explore Sifnos.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Hotel Petali is just about as nice a place as one could find to stay while on Sifnos. The rooms and grounds are kept immaculate by the house staff, while the administration is in the hands of staff (and the owner) who deal with everything efficiently and courteously. Most of the staff are fluent in English or French.

There are spectacular views to be had from the hotel terraces, especially in the direction of Paros and over the villages Exambela and Apollonia. Access to a really good bus or taxi service to all parts of the island is no more than 5 minutes from the hotel gate. Also, a very good car park lies at one end of the hotel, at most only one minute from the centre of the hotel complex.

The rooms are modern and minimalist, with wooden, laminate floors being preferred to tiles. En-suite bathrooms are of a very good standard. The swimming pool, although on the smallish side, is more than adequate for those who wish to lounge around in the sun for a while. However, during our stay there, most residents went out all day, so the pool area was usually very quiet.

Breakfast and snack facilites are very good, with a really good variety of foodstuffs available for breakfast in particular. The staff are very polyglot, cheerful and helpful and one could not wish for better. The owner ensures that guests get the best of attention.

Finally, Sifnos itself..... over the last 40 years I have visited Sifnos over 100 times, often for many weeks at a time. Its infrastructure has improved beyond belief in recent years....new roads and better facilities to be had throughout the island. It has always been a magical place for me, mainly because of the people who live there. Over the years,I have stayed in just about as many types of accommodation on Sifnos as one could imagine. I have found none better than the Hotel Petali. Free internet access throughout the hotel, for those who want or need it, is useful.

No doubt, it will not suit everyone's holiday needs but, as it is located at the centre of Sifnos' populated area, it is so convenient to experience easily the whole of the island and what it has to offer.

Room Tip: Good website. Look at the rooms online.......one or two are 'smallish'.

“Tended with Loving Care, Exceptional Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Located on the side of the hill overlooking the town on Appollonia, on the path the Artemonas, Hotel Petali is a true gem. Georgios's attention to detail is evident in the care he's put in to decorating and maintaining his property.

The location is ideal, nearby to all the action, but just far enough away to allow for spacious grounds and a parking lot for rental cars....Petali is nice enough to want to spend the day there.

The rooms reside in pretty little white cubed houses, framed with vivid flowers. In fact, flowers are all over the site which makes for beautiful photos, but ALOT of bees. I guess that's the price you pay for such lovely flowers. Breakfast is awesome, and is served on a patio with a nice view of the valley.

They also have a very nice little pool, with comfy lounge chairs nearby to while away the day.

Sifnos was my favorite of all the islands we visited. Highlights include shopping in Appollonia, walking through the alleys of Artemonas, Chryssopigi Monastery, Views from Kastro, and Vathi beach. You will definitely need a rental car to fully enjoy the island. Petali can arrange or you can grab it at the port. Be prepared for precarious roads!

“Excellent View On A Beautifully Shaded Terrace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

The hotel is situated on top of the hill looking down into town. It is a perfect perch that gets a nice breeze if you like spending time outside.

The staff was generally courteous, but did seem curt or distracted a time or two. Additionally, I was not given the room rate I was quoted via email, but forgot my confirmation paperwork - live and learn.

The rooms and bathrooms were well equipped, spacious, and come with a very nice terrace. I had an upper room that overlooked the pool area. The breakfast served was nice and the seating area has a pleasant view as well. Get there early enough so you don't have to sit in the sun.

The location of the hotel makes for an easy walk (plenty of steps) down to the village. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the streets on the way to and from the hotel daily. There are a few places to stop along the way, although most destination you will be looking for are located all the way down the hill.

I would definitely stay here again, although I would be a little more vigilant this time to make sure I received what I expected and was promised.

Room Tip: I honestly think I may have had the best standard room (see my description) - #9 I believe

“Superlative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

Have stayed here many times and it has never disappointed. Comfortable rooms., sensational views, good breakfast with fresh orange juice and homemade marmalades. Not your spot if you must be on the beach but beaches are easy to reach by bus, car or motorbike and much activity (shopping, restaurants, nightlife) takes place in Apollonia and surrounding villages. Free internet is an added bonus.

“Excellent location on a beautiful island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

Sifnos is a gem; wonderful churches, excellent beaches and good paths (sometimes paved with marble) make this a great island to visit. Petali Village Hotel is well located near the middle of the island and many good restaurants are within walking distance. We particularly liked the fact that there are village paths going through the site and plenty to explore. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable and sitting on the patio near the swimming watching the sun go down was a great way to relax before going out to supper. A wide range of food is on offer at breakfast.
