“Our kind of place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2008

With memories of a great holiday fresh in mind, we would like to express our utmost satisfaction with our recent stay in Kamari Village.

While organising the villa reservation, the information quality and communication promptness was exemplary. The reception as we arrived in Kamari Village was warm and personal. Knowing that Zahia and Kamal were around nearby throughout our stay, was very comforting.

The accommodation itself greatly surpassed our expectations with regards to facilities and location. Same goes for the beaches, tavernas and mini markets.

We were so comfortable in our villa, and the area in general, that we never got around to explore the island as much as we originally intended.

Our preferred beaches were the 2nd large Aliko cove/bay (from the south) and Glyfada. Both beaches offers as much space and privacy as one could wish for. Both beaches are also great for snorkeling.
Situated in the cedar forrest area, Aliko is the sauvage harder-to-reach beach with very few people - if any. Be sure to bring everything you need and do remember to take everything with you again when you leave to keep it as pristine as you found it ...

The main section of Glyfada beach was active with surfers so we found ourselves a more private spot a little to the south. It was so wonderfully easy to walk up to the Glyfada taverna for lunch before heading back in the afternoon to enjoy the veranda, the pool and the view.

The view from the villa changes as the day goes by and the sunsets over Paros are to die for. Stargazing on the rooftop terrace is a must.

It was a very positive surprise to experience how the tavernas and mini markets seemed to put in an extra effort to offer local and/or organic produce. We stocked up on local cheese and salami in Viglas Market in Mikri Vigla.

As already mentioned, the villas are clustered together on a hill but positioned for total privacy.
We would therefore also like to underscore that although Tony and Barbara were around in the area to maintain the pools and to look after the greenery, their pleasant personalities and "stealth" behaviour meant that we never ever felt our privacy intruded. Quite extraordinary.

All in all - value for money and balm for the soul.

“The Perfect Place to Unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2008

Kamari Village is where we come to step off the world and let it spin without us - it's the perfect escape from the bustle of overcrowded SE England. It offers a particular tranquility, explained in part by its setting on a rise above the sea with splendid sunsets and in part by the complete privacy of one's thoughtfully fitted, comfortable villa with its own pool. Its real distinction, however, lies in its hosts, Zahia and Kamal, who balance respect for one's solitude with warm and helpful friendship. When you need them they could not be more attentive and effective. We have stayed there several times and look forward to relaxing there again in June

“Amazing place!”

We agree completely with previous review that once you visit Kamari Villas you will find it hard not to return time and time again. We are going back for the third time this year. As expats living in Brussels, many people have recommended that we try to spend our holidays not repeating trips but rather visiting new places. However, Naxos is so wonderful we can't help it.

Naxos and Kamari Villas offer everything we look for in a relaxing holiday - a quiet, private villa with plenty of privacy, space and amenities, nice beaches and good restaurants nearby. We generally made our own breakfast (the kitchen has all the tools you'll need) and ate outside on the patio, often visited by the owners' friendly dog Tosca. After a day at the beach and a dip in the pool, we'd watch the sunset over Paros before heading to dinner. Having our own pool was great and this year we are trying the villa with both pool and jacuzzi and can't wait. There are a couple of smaller markets nearby and you can stock up on groceries at a larger store near town. Highly recommend Picasso restaurant on Plaka Beach - great place to have a drink at sunset.

Zahia and Kamal are extremely friendly and helpful. They have assisted us with car rental arrangements, plane tickets, ferry tickets and much more.

Counting the days until we return!

“Beautiful view is just the start!”

We went in July (2005) during the high winds season. The breezes were quite strong, but we were able to swim in our private pool almost every day. Gorgeous views. Zahia was amazingly helpful (e.g. purchased our ferry tickets from Piraeus and fed exed them to us prior to our arrival; she also has - or had - a US bank in addition to her EU bank, so wire transfer was simple from the states). Car is a must (or you must be willing to deal with the buses). Island is lovely to explore by car; each beach a little different than the last. Closest beach to the resort was... surprise... a nude beach, but very quiet so that you could find a space of your own (frankly, it was the worst beach we visited). Stargazing from the roof is a must! Great place for families or couples. Very private in the villas; there's also a hotel area with a shared pool.

Day trips from Naxos are easy, but book them early during your visit if you go in summer; high winds will cancel your trip and you may not be able to reschedule before your journey home (we made it to Santorini, but our Mykanos/Delos visit was cancelled). Pack Dramamine.

Skip the red wine. Drink the house white (every pub has a different flavor). Local cheeses and meats are wonderful. There's a butchery in a small village half way between Hora and Kamari; stop in (point to the flanks on the wall, if you don't speak Greek).

If you hike, Mt. Zeus is a must. Just turn left slightly past the cave, where the rocks begin to look really bad; it's easy to miss the turn around some brambles (of which there are many on the climb). Unless you're a mountain goat, you probably don't want to go straight up the rock face. We did it with the kids. Marvelous feat!

If you come in from Athens, don't bother with more than one full day and pay for a hotel as close to Acropolis as possible. You can do all the "must see" things in a well-packed day. Unless you really love the night-life (in which case, Naxos probably isn't your island), Athens is dull for an extended stay.

“Loved our villa in Kamari Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2003

We stayed with another couple in a 2 bedroom villa at Kamari Village for one week in May/June 2003. The villa was very pretty, new, well equipped, affordable, quiet, and off the beaten path.

Kamari Village is owned and operated by a nice couple, and includes several separate villas, some with private pools, and some that share a common pool. A car is essential and they don't allow skooters on the grounds (they are too noisy). The place was very well maintained and totally private.

We had a private pool which was very nice, but also very cold. Maybe it warms up later in the season.

The villa is small but had plenty of room for 2 couples. The kitchen was very clean and had all the appliances you need. There was a stereo and washing machine and full, modern shower.

The villa had a gorgeous view of the sea, beach, other islands, and lovely rolling hills with sheep grazing in the distance. The beach was a short walk away and beautiful and practically deserted. The sea was wonderfully warm for swimming (especially by Canadian standards).

There were a couple of nearby restaurants which were very good.

The island of Naxos is beautiful with lots to see and easy to get around with a rental car. The main city, Naxos City, was about 30-40 minutes drive away.

I would highly recommend staying at one of these villas.
