“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

Spanelis is an small and familiar hotel, very clean and well located, less than 10 minutes to chora, I really loved it! The owner, Helene is french, she picked me up in the airport and gave all the tips I need to visit Mykonos, thanks Helene! It was a grateful experience at Greece and Mikonos. My room has a wonderful view of the sea, I spent a very nice time there!! Breakfeast was delicious, good greek yogurt! I choose to do not rent a motorcicle, and I could visit many beaches by bus!

“Great place to stay in Mykonos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

Helene picked us up from the airport and was very friendly and had lots of information about the town for us. The room was on the small side, but it was very comfortable and clean, and we only use a hotel room to sleep anyway. We had a lovely ocean view, but if you don't there is a nice terrace balcony where you can enjoy a drink or some breakfast which was simple but nice. The location is great, it's about a 10-15 minute walk into the town, where there is an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants. It was a very lovely hotel, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“We were welcomed like friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2011

Helene met us at the airport at the beginning of our stay, and drove us to the port at the end, all at no extra cost. She and her husband were both friendly and welcoming, and eager to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The room was small and simply furnished, but clean and comfortable. The hotel is a ten minute walk from Mykonos town and bus station, and is in a quiet location. Free wifi was an unexpected bonus.

“The Charm of Simplicity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

Spanelis hotel is simple, yet very agreeable. Host Elena was almost like an aunt, picking us from the port then dropping us there on our last day. Our room wasn't big but is was squicky clean, the beds comfortable and had air conditioning - a must if you stay in Greece in the summer. Breakfast was very simple (coffee, bread, butter, jam, honey, sponge cake, pasties) but the foods employed were very good (except the juice). Having breakfast on the terrace, looking at the sea and caressed by the morning breeze made up for the shortcomings, though :)
The hotel is conveniently located 700 metres from Mykonos city, which is a comfortably walking distance while ensuring silence during the night. Since the hotel is uphill with regards to the city, it's a good idea to go down with scooter so the way back is not too tiring. Be aware that parking in the city can be a right pain in the a**e. OTOH no one seems to mind the "no parking" signs around the city centre.

“Could've been great if we hadn't been stolen!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

Our lovely trip was spoiled after we discovered we lost a diamond necklace, 2 pairs of new jeans and 2 new polo shirts. Although I hate to write this review since we liked the owners of the hotel, all evidence point the stuff was stolen in the hotel. We looked everywhere and made sure the room was locked every time we left. What#s strange is that the necklace was taken from inside the safe ! My wife had put it in a box inside the safe and made sure to lock it. After we left to Santorini, she opened the necklace box to find it was not there. so clearly someone took it and left the box to make it seam like nothing is missing. Also I realized the rest of the stuff was missing when relocating in Santorini. What's disappointing is that when I called the lady owner she showed little interest in properly investigating, and only checked the room to say there are only trash in the can there! proving we hadn't forgotten anything in the room. She said she trusted the cleaning lady. We don't !
