“Myconian beauty and Greek hospitality at their best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have been going to Mykonos for over 10 years. I have been a return customer of Apanema for the past 5-6 summers. There are many reasons why:

a. Location: The hotel has the perfect distance from the town to feel close and yet be able feel removed from it if one wishes. The walk back is quite easy and if one has had one too many drinks then it's a few euros cab ride away. Do note that part of the road leading to town is not paved for pedestrians.

b. The property: White washed and beautiful as everything in Mykonos. A beautiful infinity pool makes for a great afternoon watching the sunset while drinking a nice coctail.

c. Rooms: Elegant, white, spacious with nice modern bathrooms. Again, they are in true Mykonos style; quite minimalistic without being over designed or feeling institutional. The beds are comfortable and nice Etro toiletries are provided.

d. Staff: For me the best part of the hotel. I absolutely adore the staff of Apanema and every year I feel that I am returning to see friends. They are gracious and cater to every need without being overbearing. Tanja is absolutely charming and knows everything there is to know about the island. Her dining and drinking suggestions are always spot on. I only need to tell her what I feel like eating and she will have a reservation ready for me which never disappoints.

While the hotel doesn't have a gym, which some require, I feel that it excels in understanding its customers. For me, the offering of late breakfast free of charge with a fantastic selection (from eggs, to a variety of breads, cheese, cold cuts etc) is very important on an island that goes to sleep so late. I don't feel rushed to get out of bed to go downstairs and have breakfast. The bar also makes great coffees and drinks.

As a Greek and someone who has been visiting Myconos over the years, I have found the perfect hotel for me and honestly I can't wait to go back.

“THIS PLACE FAR EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS FOR A PARTY OF 8”

After extensive research to find a suitable place to celebrate a significant special birthday with 8 close friends I decided on Apanema. We have just returned to Australia after almost two months of travel and i would like to give this hotel my 5 stars as well as an enormous thank you.

We had booked four rooms in total and we were all delighted with our stay here. I would have to say it was the best accommodation we had on our trip. Everything went as planned from our collection at the port to being dropped at the airport on departure by George in the very comfortable Hotel vehicle.

The rooms were decorated stylishly and with quality fittings and bedding. It was the best bed we had for our entire trip and the pillows were wonderful. As I had done the booking they even upgraded us to a superior room which was appreiated.

The best thing about Apanema were the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Tania was fantastic and joined us for welcome drinks and a beautiful fruit platter and was available to answer any question we had on what to do and where to go. The hospitality of all staff was over and above anything that we had expected. There were so many extras that we never found anywhere else on our travels.

The breakfast was sensational and we never required lunch as we could have anything from champagne to smoked salmon and all the usual breakfast fare. The eight of us made this meal a special event of getting together and planning our day ahead and the good part was that you could have breakfast up until 1.00 pm – how good is that. Consequently lunch was never needed. George and Isabella were fantastic in looking after us at breakfast.

Another plus is it is very quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle of the town. It is about a 10-15 minute stroll which we all enjoyed as it kept us fit after enjoying all the wonderful Greek Cuisine.

The road into town has to be handled with care as there is no footpaths and there is a bend in the road which you have to be very careful of due to the traffic, but this is only tricky for a few seconds and then the rest of the stroll is okay.

The entire process from me booking directly to our departure was handled professionally and without any problems whatsoever.

Would I choose Apanema on my next visit to Mykonos. YOU BET I WOULD! It far exceeded our expectations.

THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AFTER US AND MAKING US SO WELCOME.

“Outstanding”

We have just returned from a week at the Apanema Resort. The accommodation was superb. We were in a standard room with a sea view. The breakfast was outstanding and Isabella provided outstanding and friendly waitress service every morning. The hotel is very well located; just 10 minutes walk into Mykonos Town. The room was thoroughly cleaned every day and fresh towels and linen provided daily too.

We would highly recommend this hotel for location, accommodation, service, food and overall ambience.

“Fantastic Hotel!!”

My husband and I went to this hotel on our honeymoon and we couldn’t have been happier with it. The hotel rooms are gorgeous with an extremely friendly and accomodating staff. The breakfast is included and wonderful. It is a short walk into town where all of the restaurants and shops are located. The views of the ocean from the hotel are beautiful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Great experience”

We have just returned from our stay at the Apanema and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Before writing this review, I read others and the comments about the breakfast waiter must have referred to someone else, as the current one is a delight and never complained one iota. The staff are lovely and so helpful. Yes you wake up to the odd wood lice on the floor but this is a hot Greek island and these things are to be expected. We never saw any bad hygiene and in contrast, the cleanliness was impecable! Yes the pool is cold but that's invigorating when you are in a hot climate. The view from our room was delighful and having breakfast on our terrace really made the holiday. It's true, you don't alway get everything you ticked on the menu but for us, this became half the fun of it :-) But there is always plenty and we never needed lunch after such an early morning banquet!

Further more, when we arrived and checked out the prices for evening meals we thought it was pricey - until we ventured into town and realised what a bargain it was. Mykonos is not a cheap place to eat out and they sting you with cover charges everywhere (bread for 4euros). Whereas the hotel food was very good and good value by comparison and the ambience is great. There is always background music round the pool - very low level but always perfect for the time of day.

The walk into town takes about 10 minutes and although there is no footpath, we never felt in danger from the limited traffic. And, you only have to walk on the road for about 300 yards before you can shortcut through the harbour....

Walk the other direction and within 400 yards you get a beach almost to yourself with enough fish on the rocks to make snorkelling worthwhile.

We loved this hotel and especially the staff. If you are looking for a quiet hotel just out of town, you won't go far wrong with this one....

PS. We were informed that this year they are looking to install jacuzzi's in rooms 4, 5, and 6 so they are always looking to improve, rather than resting on their laurels....

Room Tip: make sure you get what you book. We did have to get our rep to change our room so double check your...
