“Ok - but not a boutique hotel by any means.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

Firstly I have to say the staf were really nice and helpful. But ...
We booked this based on the photos of the pool area, and the fact is was a '15 minute walk' to Mykonos town.
The pool area is beautiful with amazing views of the town from the top of a hill. Stunning.
The rooms most definitely do not match though. Quite shabby, and nothing like the same views. We had a jacuzzi bath (broken). The shower was on its last legs. It felt more like a 3 start hotel. It was also a separate entrance to the main reception, so felt completely unrelated to the hotel.
The '15 minute walk' is indeed 15 minutes, but along the main road in and out of Mykonos (very busy). There are no pavements - so it's quite a walk. There are barely any lights at night. It's downhill from the hotel to town, but unless your a hiker, you will not want to walk back up that hill after walking round mykonos all night (and a few cocktails!).

If you want a relaxing hotel and you plan to sit round the pool or drive around the island, then this is probably for you (remember though - the rooms are definitely 3 star). If, like us, you are expecting to walk in and out of town every day, then I'd look closer to town.

Room Tip: ask for one in the actual hotel, overlooking the pool.

Dear Rob&Alex
Thank you for your detailled review. I was happy to read your positive comments regarding the service, the stunning view and the pool area. Our staff does its utmost each day to ensure that all our guests feel at home and I am delighted that you experienced just that. I am also delighted that you enjoyed our renovated pool deck and pool open-air-lounges.
On the other hand I was disappointed to read that regarding your room and hotel’s location your expectations were not met . Our aim regarding the rooms is to offer comfortable and relaxing ambience. To our point of view in a small traditional island like Mykonos, luxury is rather a concept of simplicity and good quality than a concept of glamour . I am sorry that we failed to give you that feeling and that in contrary the minimalistic design gave you the impression of “shabby” room !! My team and I , have taken under serious consideration your comments regarding your bath and be sure that we will do the appropriate changes/adjustments. Regarding the location , allow me to disagree with you!!
Mykonos town is one of the most “ vibrant” towns of the planet and hotel's location , only 15 min distance but yet away from the crowd , it is - to my opinion-a big privilege. I agree with you that the road to go down town is narrow and not so well lightened, but Mykonos is traditionally built (and architectonically protected ) so no big avenues with pavements must be expected.
The bus ( every 20 min ) functioning till 5:30 in the morning , facilitates clients to come back easily as well as the taxis ( 6 euro from down town-fabrika square to come back to the hotel) .
Thank you again for your detailled review.
Should your holiday schedule brings you back to Tharroe of Mykonos, please do let me know,
I will personally take care of your stay.

Warm regards

“Private charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Although it's a walk downhill into town on busy roads, the hotel is actually not too far from the center of town. Renting a car is a nice way to explore the island's various beaches and tavernas, a nice alternative to the morning and afternoon crowds that offload from the cruise ships into Mykonos town. We upgraded to a sea view room with a private terrace overlooking the bay, and enjoyed the accommodating staff and good breakfasts.

“beautiful hotel and view, a hike to the downtown area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

This hotel probably has one of the best views on the island and the restaurant is excellent. Quiet (at least in the off season) it has a parking lot so easy to park if you rent a car. the staff was very helpful although we had some challenges with one employee who was trying to be really helpful but kept nodding in our conversations but then it was clear that they did not understand us.

like other comments-it is a 'hike' to the downtown area-all down hill into town and all up to get back! still we prefer the walk and the quiet...if you are big on the staying out late downtown-pick something closer.

“Beautiful boutique hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

This hotel is situated on top of the hill with a clear view of the water and surrounding countryside. All rooms have either a terrace or balcony and can be described as quaint.
The bathrooms are large with a spa bath and the staff are very attentive.
Breakfast is great and the staff on hand will make anything you want.
The pool is very beautiful and overlooks the amazing Agean!
It is too far to walk into town so AWD are recommended.

Room Tip: Better views are attainable it you have the second floor rooms.

“Thoroughly relaxing 2 weeks, although the wind was a pain at times!!”

Nothing really to add that hasnt already been said about the wonderful staff, views and good breakfast. The only downside was the walk into town for the nightlife however we came across a really lovely restaurant about half way ( next to hotel Carob)which had superb views of the sunset and good food at a reasonable price where we went if we couldnt face the walk after being out all day. There is no getting away from the fact that Mykanos town is lovely but very expensive and I would not recommend going in peak season as it was busy enough when the cruise ships were in port! Enjoyed the trips to Delos, Tinos and the jeep safari is a good way to see the island if you dont want to hire a car or forget your licences like we did! We used the local buses daily to go to the beaches and particularly liked Pliatos Gialos as it was a reasonable price for the sunloungers which were quite spaced out if you use the blue ones in front of the supermarket, where you could buy cheaper beer and cans of G n T !!

Room Tip: room 321 has a spa bath and view over the town and sea but no sun on the balcony and looks over the...
