We stayed there the last week of July 2011. At first, the owners seemed very nice, friendly, with a sense of hospitality, in a family business. But the first impression was not right.
We are 3 friends and we asked for a studio with sea view. Although we have been told that there was no availability for the studios for the first night and we would stay in a another type of room, as soon as we arrived we have been informed that we had to stay for two nights in a really small room, where there was no space to get our luggages inside.
What the owners call "sea view" is just a part of the sea, when the client stands in a certain corner of the balcony. In the front of the whole property there are villas.
Breakfast does not really worth a single euro. In this financial crisis time, the owners of Castro Hotel have decided that the conntinental breakfast costs 8 euros! If the guests wish, it is included in the price of the room. The breakfast consisted οφ exaclty a single slice of cheese, a single slice of ham, two slices of bread, a tiny quantity of butter and marmelade and only one cup of filter coffee. If a client asked for more bread or coffee, it was given to him with such reluctance, that the guest felt like a beggar.
When we finally checked in our room, we found out that the room was not clean. There were hair in the shower. The sheets were unclean and we asked to be changed. We asked 3 times for liquid soap, because the bottle was empty. The owners reused old bottles of a specific antibacterial soap, but the content was a common liquid soap. I wonder: if this is not deception of the client, then what is?
The facilities of Castro Hotel are not bad. But the owners must reconsider their priorities and learn that tourism is not deception of the client in order to get easy money. Tourism is making the client feel like home.
