“Good location, nice beach, bar, and entertainment”

Had a tough time finding the hotel because the taxis were on Strike-a. We took the city bus until the driver stopped and pointed us in the general direction of the hotel. After a sweaty walk and asking for directions numerous times we found the Pearrr La Beach. The hotel is right across the road from the beach and within walking distance to the center of Rethymno (20 minutes). The dinner buffet is ok but can get tiresome after a couple of nights. We ordered a half litre of wine every night but the quality of wine seemed deteriorate. We did enjoy the nightly entertainment including traditional Greek Dancers and Belly Dancers! The best part was bartender Dimitris and his excellent Margaritas. My wife and i were on our honeymoon and we thought we were getting a sea view room. The hotel said they would try to accommodate us but it wasn't guaranteed. They did offer to change our room the next day but we decided to stay put because we didn't plan on being in the room very much anyway. The hotel did not offer to help us get back to the bus station despite the taxi strike. A four or five star should be going out of their way for the guests but the Pearl Beach, like much of Greece, was very indifferent. This hotel gets a very good rating bc of location and amenities such as shows, bar and buffet.

Room Tip: Just ask, they were willing to move us to a better view.

“FINE HOTEL, A PEARL IN RETHYMNO”

I spent 2 weeks at this hotel in the end of may 2011. It was great holiday in every way. The hotel was good and the weather was splendid. This hotel is in the end of the Beach Street 2000 meters from the centre of Rethymno. I found this 4 star hotel very nice and clean. There was a nice garden with many flowers and trees. The rooms had a good size and had everything needed. The breakfost and dinner was excellent and had a lot of choise. The service quality is superb and all the staff are very friendly and hospitable to the visitors. There are high class music and dansing programs nearly every evening. I can recomend this hotel to everyone who will stay in a comfortable hotel with good atmosphere.

just spent 10 days at the pearl beach, hotel itself very clean, rooms were a good size, had everything one needed, kettle, hair dryer, fridge, etc, good sized shower rooms, wehad b&b which i can say was very good, alot of choice at breakfast from bacon eggs all kinds, fruit, cereal, all kinds of bread, cakes, loads to choose from, pool area was very clean, although you had to get out there early to get a lounger we always managed to get 1, if your towels were put on the loungers and were there more than 2 hours they were removed, which i thought was very good indeed, it gave other people a chance too, we were about a 35
min walk to town which was ok, town itself was very busy loads of shops to look round, loads of restaurants to choose from at reasonable prices, i must say though i thought i'd get greek food not the case it was more cretan food which is very different, hope this helps in your choosing a hotel, and i'm very fussy lol,

“lovely hotel, lovely resort”

Stayed 7 nights B&B. Good choice at breakfast. Rooms good, no need to bring hairdryer. kettle in room with 1 complimentary coffee sachet each & 1 litre comlimentary bottled water. Right opposite beach, mailnly sandy but have to cross a smallish line of pebbles/small stones to get in so may need to bring surf shoes. Sunbeds 6 euros a pair. Rethymnon itself which is lovely is a flat 20 to 25 min walk along the promenade-we did this several mornings, then got a taxi back (5 euros) Rethymnon has a lovely Venetian harbour-worth eating there 1 night despite higher prices-waiters will try & persuade you to eat at their restaurant & you need to be firm with them(!) biut it,s all very good natured. There are loads of restaurants & tourist shops in the lovely little criss cross streets and we had the best meal at Melody Garden- better quality & not so expensive as on the front. Worth taking plently of euros- we often use credit card abroad, but many places did not accept them, & 1 charged extra to pay by card. We went on 1 excursion- the little red train into the inland villages, 12.90 Euros for 2 hours, stopping off & for a quick walk round a monastery & a visit to a Weaver's workshop.
Also the sunsets over the sea were lovely. The Greeks were friendly & had a sense of fun. All in all a great hol.

“It just gets better every time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

We have been going to the Pearl Beach for a Spring Break for the last 15 years and it just keeps getting better each year. You need to bear in mind that the star system is not quite the same in Crete as it is in the rest of Europe particularly for beach hotels. The Pearl Beach looks fairly modern from the road but once you get into the middle of the complex many of the rooms lead off the gardens and are typically Greek i.e. they have everything you need but are in no way luxurious. It's sister hotel the Aegean Pearl was only completed in 2009 and is ranked as a 5* but shares many of the facilities with the Pearl Beach. The "season" is typically April to October but most bars and restaurants don't open until well into May so anyone going in May will possibly find the entertainment a little sparse. That said we have just had a fantstic couple of weeks - the hotel was virtually full and there was a definite "buzz" about the place. Ideally suited for the beach and a pleasant stroll along the promenade into the old town we love this hotel as do the "repeat" guests we encounter year on year.
