“Hotel on the beach, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2008

Hotel is actually situated in Adelianos Kampos, some 6km to the east of Rethymnon. Hotel stands directly on the beach, on the other side is a fairly busy road. We didn't have much of a balcony view but the traffic didn't keep us awake either.
Hotel was very well organised, the rooms were very nice. We had a LCD tv and refrigerator (that actually didn't work) this however wasn't a great problem as there was always cold drinks available (and food) til 24.00 so the all inclusive is true to its name.
The rooms were kept clean towels (daily) /bedlinnen changed reguarly. Airconditioning was available at no extra cost.
The food was very good, in the form of buffet. A very good selection of warm/cold dishes. If you were too late for lunch snacks (chips/ toasted sandwiches) were readily available at the (pool)bar.
The pool was well maintained and sunbeds were available. Also the sunbeds on the beach were provided free of charge.
Within a short distance of the hotel (on the beach)you can participate in various acivities/watersports (hire jetski's, pedalos etc. )
The street is full of supermarkets/ tourist shops and bars / restaurants. There are 2 minigolfs nearby.
The bus stop isn't far away so Rethymnon is just a short trip away.
The guests were a mix, but mainly Russian, German, French, with several Greeks. We were Dutch/English but the only ones!
There were also few teenagers.
Further in my opinion the hotel isn't suitable for the very elderly because of the many marble steps ( for example down to the restaurant).
Extra's: There was an in room safe deposit available for 1,50euro per day.
All in all a very pleasant stay.

Eva Bay Hotel is about 6 kilometers east of Rethymnon. The hotel rates itself as a 4 star. Aside from the hard beds we could not find any reason to give it less of a rating. We stayed at this all-inclusive resort with our two children (10 & 9 years old) during the last week of the tourist season; checking out the day the hotel closed. We were the only couple with young kids. The hotel staff and other guests made them and us feel welcome. The water in the pool was cold, but the kids didn't seem to mind. The hotel has it's own beach area that leads right up to the sea. The hotel was immaculate as was the pool and the beach area. Food was good and the menu changed daily at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The poolside restaurant offered a more limited menu, but was still great. The kids could order chicken nuggets and fries or sandwiches poolside. They especially liked being able to walk up to the poolside bar on their own and order Mickey Mouse or Cinderella drinks...or dessert! When the poolside bar and restaurant closed at 5:30 pm the main bar opened inside the hotel. Beer, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages flowed generously from 10:00 am until around 01:00 am. The hotel was extremely accommodating to ALL of the guests. Checkout is at noon, but on the last day they stayed open until the last guest left at 10:00 pm! They even kept the restaurant open for dinner and lunch and allowed us to stay for the meals at no extra charge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would consider staying at Eva Bay again, although with the foreknowledge that the beds are uncomfortable.

  • Liked — On the beach; all-inclusive meals and beverages.
  • Disliked — Hard beds.
