I confess I have been to this property before and arrived in the last week of the season as the accommodation closed for 2011 on 30 September. Reading the reviews on here make me laugh out, especially ones that complain about not being able to consume non pool bar purchased drinks around the pool. It is Greek law to have a receipt or bill available for every item purchased in a complex like this or fines are imposed onthe owner for presumed tax evasion. Even sunbed vendors should be issuing a receipt for the same reason.
Also the "I never took half board so I was ignored" etc etc. I never took the half board option during my stay this time or previously as I don't do breakfasts and as I travel around whilst on holiday I cannot guarantee not eating elsewhere on the island. As a result of me not taking up this option I was still welcomed, still had too many free Rakis after my beer, still swam in the cleanest pool I think I have ever seen, still stayed in the bar/reception after the complex officially closed to wait for a late pickup, still got assisted with the language to get something from the chemist, still got given the passcode to use the wifi, still got shown around Rethymnon to get some presents and avoid the tourist prices (including how to not pay to park a car lol! This was my favourite tip), still got invited to join in family celebrations - including food and drink, still came home with the Mousaka recipe AND still want to go back again.
For the other doubting thomas' on here I too had a problem with the toilet seat. It fell off in my hand and by the time I got back off the beach it was restored to it's former glory. I find it helps if you actually tell the staff of an existing problem, that way it gets fixed and you don't need to come on here moaning about it weeks later.
Now the FAQ bit:
The weekly BBQ was 14 euro this year and is a much as you can eat, includes a bit of greek dancing and is well worth it. Vegetarians can be provided with an alternative to the tonnes of meat on offer.
The fridges are stocked with water, milk, beer(!) and things which you can leave untouched or pay 10 euros for. As most arrivals here are in the early hours this is well worth it.
The views from the balcony of the majority of rooms are first class.
The Olympic brochure says 50m from the "sea". There is a clue here because although it is factually correct, the actual beach is short walk away.
I have no idea if the cooking equipment in the rooms work as why bother when excellent food is available on site and around the village. Half board actually would have saved me £££'s so in the end the rep was right.
I think I have said enough. Thank you to all the family for a wonderful chilled out week which for what I paid it woul dhave been rude not to go.
Room Tip: Ask for rooms on floors one and two then you can sleep with the balcony doors open listening to the...
