“"everything we wanted"”

myself,my partner and her 70 yr old mother stayed here for a week in september 2011.We wanted a relaxing stress free week and that was exactly what we got.Litsa,George,Paris and all the family/staff were welcoming, friendly and very accommodating (my partner is vegetarian and nothing was too much trouble for Litsa and George who made her a number of delicious meals). The rooms were basic but adequate, cleaned daily and sufficient for basic self catering. Our only minor issues were the shower (which could have been better) and the provision of a toaster would have been appreciated. All in all it was a really lovely holiday for a middle aged couple and a lady in her later years. As regards the negative comments R.E. Litsa's attitude,we found this was absolutely not the case.We turned down the offer of half board on arrival but ended up eating there every night anyway such was excellent quality of both the food (reasonably priced) and the hospitality.Would not hesitate to return to this hotel/apartments again.

Room Tip: sea/pool view preferable.

“Don't believe everything you read on Trip Advisor”

I confess I have been to this property before and arrived in the last week of the season as the accommodation closed for 2011 on 30 September. Reading the reviews on here make me laugh out, especially ones that complain about not being able to consume non pool bar purchased drinks around the pool. It is Greek law to have a receipt or bill available for every item purchased in a complex like this or fines are imposed onthe owner for presumed tax evasion. Even sunbed vendors should be issuing a receipt for the same reason.

Also the "I never took half board so I was ignored" etc etc. I never took the half board option during my stay this time or previously as I don't do breakfasts and as I travel around whilst on holiday I cannot guarantee not eating elsewhere on the island. As a result of me not taking up this option I was still welcomed, still had too many free Rakis after my beer, still swam in the cleanest pool I think I have ever seen, still stayed in the bar/reception after the complex officially closed to wait for a late pickup, still got assisted with the language to get something from the chemist, still got given the passcode to use the wifi, still got shown around Rethymnon to get some presents and avoid the tourist prices (including how to not pay to park a car lol! This was my favourite tip), still got invited to join in family celebrations - including food and drink, still came home with the Mousaka recipe AND still want to go back again.

For the other doubting thomas' on here I too had a problem with the toilet seat. It fell off in my hand and by the time I got back off the beach it was restored to it's former glory. I find it helps if you actually tell the staff of an existing problem, that way it gets fixed and you don't need to come on here moaning about it weeks later.

Now the FAQ bit:
The weekly BBQ was 14 euro this year and is a much as you can eat, includes a bit of greek dancing and is well worth it. Vegetarians can be provided with an alternative to the tonnes of meat on offer.
The fridges are stocked with water, milk, beer(!) and things which you can leave untouched or pay 10 euros for. As most arrivals here are in the early hours this is well worth it.
The views from the balcony of the majority of rooms are first class.
The Olympic brochure says 50m from the "sea". There is a clue here because although it is factually correct, the actual beach is short walk away.
I have no idea if the cooking equipment in the rooms work as why bother when excellent food is available on site and around the village. Half board actually would have saved me £££'s so in the end the rep was right.

I think I have said enough. Thank you to all the family for a wonderful chilled out week which for what I paid it woul dhave been rude not to go.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on floors one and two then you can sleep with the balcony doors open listening to the...

“HAD A LOVELY TIME”

We arrived a little concerned having read the reviews. I was recovering from knee replacement surgery. We arrived under our own steam. Paris rushed to the car to assist us with our luggage, the whole family were welcoming. George is an excellent cook and for 115 euros the half board represented good value to us. We were out everyday in our hire car, returned had a couple of beers then our meal at night enjoyed the quiz and the bbq. The Karaoke is not our thing but we had business to attend to in Almyrida and stayed with firends there so cannot comment on that. Both Litsa and our rep Les were more than helpful. Our bedding and towels were changed, we saw no cockroaches! It is a typical friendly family run small apartment block in Greece. Personally we have stayed in 4 * places that were not so nice. The old adage you get what you pay ,for is excelled here by the attention of the family who want to make you enjoy your holiday. My request for an extra sheet was dealt with instantly and with a smile. We spoke to lots of other residents and no one had any issues. We were all in the 50+ age group and we met some lovely people enjoying the company and friendship of Litsa and her family

Room Tip: Due to my mobility issues we were in Room 108. It was a 1 bedroom apartment with a shady patio, with...

“Had a Great Time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Arrived, concerned by some reviews. Delighted to find they were just not true. We had a big room with fantastic sea view. Lovely welcome at the gate from the family, and all week their hospitality was second to none. The food is lovely, especially the BBQ is amazing value. They will cater for any special diets. We're not big drinkers but still managed to pack away a fair bit of wine. Prices very reasonable. The pool area is very very clean, and each morning cleaned thoroughly. Maid service 7 days a week, all linen changed midweek. This is typical Greek budget accommodation where staff go out of their way to be of service. Bus stop 5 - 10 mins, supermarkets and tavernas the same. The beach in front is rocky, but this makes it great for snorkelling, a few minutes walk on and you hit the sand. Great place for relaxation or hire a jeep and trek round the island. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view.
