We stayed here recently and were very disappointed with the hotel. They must have recently renovated the exterior of the building and the upper terrace because the interior was a big disappointment. Although the hotel had friendly staff, a clean lobby area and is in a central location convenient for walking into downtown, we would never stay here again. Our room was very small and dark (we felt like we were living in a basement) - the only access we had to sunlight was a door that should have opened to a ‘balcony’. This door didn’t open and was completely covered with a metal cover preventing any light from entering. Hence, we never had any natural light in our room. The room constantly smelled of sewage and had tiny flies in the bathroom and shower area. The shower was extremely tiny (by North American standards) and the shower curtain was old and mouldy. Although there was maid service, the towels were ripped and greying and the bed linens and comforter were spotted with unidentifiable stains and soiled. Our fridge didn’t work either so keeping drinks cool was out of the question. The beds were uncomfortable, well used and squeaky. They should really be ashamed of the sleeping accommodations they are offering to paying customers.
On a positive note the air conditioning worked and we had ‘free’ wifi.
The breakfast provided a variety of foods and they do change the offering of hot foods daily (likely on a weekly cycle).
The only thing that kept us from moving (aside for the hassle) and the fact we had already fully-paid was the fact that we were exhausted from a long trip.
We loved our stay in Crete but would never return to this hotel.
