I have just come back from a nice holiday in Crete, staying at the Esperides Apartments, and I'm happy to recommend this place to other holiday makers.

The Esperides Apartments are set on the outskirts of the village of Koutouloufari, which is a really nice place, and highly recommendable for families.

The apartments themselves are of a decent standard, very clean and quite cozy, but basic like you would expect in Greece. You may be slightly disapointed if you go strictly off the pictures on their website, because they date a few years back, and unfortunately the place hasn't been maintained to the standard the pictures would suggest.

In saying that, however, the Esperides Apartments would be a very good base for young families who don't go on holiday to hang around the hotel, but prefer to take part in various activities or wanting to go exploring.

There's a nice and clean pool area, including a childrens pool and a jacuzi spa, and also there's a bar serving drinks and snacks during the day. I can imagine this area getting a bit cramped when the place is busy, which wasn't the case the week we went, but there's lots of alternatives in the area.

There's a cozy sports bar just across the road, which is part of the hotel, where all major sports events is on screen throughout the day. Also, they have a pool table, table football and computer games/internet access. If you bring your laptop there's free public WiFi throughout the village - it's quite slow - but it works ok!

The staff at the apartments are very friendly, quite laid back like most greek people, and only too happy to help when you need them.

Koutouloufari is a perfect spot for family holidays, and offer almost everything you could ask for. You'll never run out of restaurants to try in the village - even if you stay for 2 weeks - and most of the ones we went to were of a very good standard.

If you're after clubs and nightlife you'll find it in abundance in the resort of Herssonisos just 10 minutes walk down the hill. If you decide to go - do save money for a taxi back - or face a steep climp at the end of your night out!

I can highly recommend the place - and would give the apartments 6/10 - and the location 10/10.
