“Friendly staff, uncomfortable beds, ok location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

The food at dinner was very good, however, would have liked to have had more healthy options at breakfast. No king size bed was available, only two twins pushed together and they were very hard. Tiny bathroom. You had to go to the lobby to use get wifi but it was free. Location was ok but not in a very attractive area. Nothing fancy but it did the job.

“Excellent, hard to do better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

From the complimentary raki in the room to the sensationally good breakfast it is hard to find fault with this city centre hotel, a 10 minute walk from the bus station and ferry port. Rooms are a/c modern, large, well-equipped (though wifi is limited to the lobby: plugs in room), with large multi-channel TVs, well-supplied showers. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices in the restaurant are extremely gentle: cheaper than some nearby tavernas. Stayed here twice and recommend it without reservation.

Room Tip: You don't have a sea view unless you crane your neck from the balcony.

“Friendly staff, tired rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

The Atrion Hotel saved us so I can not complain too much. Our reservations were mixed up at our hotel (Marin Dream) and the host at that hotel called around to find us another room. The Atrion found us two rooms (family suites) that we could stay in. The family suite was not particularly well maintained. Pictures were missing from the wall in one of the rooms and overall the rooms seemed "tired" for lack of a better word. They were clean and pretty large. The rooms we were given (again on a last minute basis so I think they may have been sort of "spare" rooms) were located right next to the employee break room or something along those lines. The hallway smelled of smoke often and we had to keep the doors closed. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic! One of the best we had on our trip. The view was not anything fantastic but the chocolate waffles and other items available were really delicious. The staff were really helpful and were able to help us figure out what we would need to do to get our tickets for a ferry and such and seemed to have the correct information which wasn't always the case at other hotels we stayed at. Overall, as a last minute find this was a very nice place with courteous staff. The location was a bit further from the port than we had hoped but overall it turned out ok. It seems like a shady part of town, but we never had any issues at all.

“nice location”

don't let the neighborhood fool you, the hotel is in a run down part of the area but I never felt unsafe walking around. it was a little hard to find the place on foot but after we did getting back and forth was easy. the main bus terminal (goes everywhere) is 10 min away on the main road, ferry is 5 min past that. from the airport it's was 80 cents and dropped you off at the "square" where most of the tourist visit. from there it was a 15 min walk, luckily all down hill.
one of the nice part is the ocean is 2 blocks away with the cheapest and best restaurant we found in the city, ippnon. south of the hotel is the "square". southeast is 25th st which is a pedestrian only route with plenty of tourist shops, food, then runs into market st. another pedestrian only with the same but a grocery store and fresh meats
the rooms are small, the balcony had a view of the "City" but around the wall was the ocean. wi fi works great, friendly staff. the free breakfast was pretty good. water is free and stored in your fridge. you're also greeted in the room with a bottle of raki, the crete traditional liquor.
