“Nice Hotel for short business trip, great rooftop terrace area with pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed here for four nights in June as part of a Business trip. The room was a good size, had an arty feel to it. The bathroom was nice and modern; both room and bathroom were cleaned to a high standard. Had a balcony, the view wasn't to be desired but I wasn't staying at the hotel to sit out on the balcony. Thankfully I had the final day of the trip to chill out and relax on the rooftop terrace. It is lovely and the views are outstanding. The pool isn't very big but it's a nice size to take a dip when the weather got too hot.
The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Bus stops were located right outside the hotel so transport was very efficient and regular.

“Right on the main street- great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I stayed at the Astoria earlier this summer (June 2011) for about 2-3 days. The concierge was amazing and provided me a bigger room since I was staying at the hotel for three days. The hotel is right by the historical centre and not too far from the marketplace. Most things are pretty much within walking distance, but those that aren't- the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. The bus can take you to Knossos if you want to see the old archeological ruins (which I would definitely recommend), and you can also catch a bus to go to the beach. Both rides are around 20 minutes tops.
Breakfast was included in my stay, and it was delicious. There was a wide spread of both "American" and "European" breakfast foods to please any palate. Also, there are more than enough restaurants within walking distance from this hotel to suit the price ranges of any traveling group.
Even though this is located right on the main centre, I honestly could not hear any traffic and was able to get a good night's sleep most of my nights I stayed there. If I were to go back to Crete, I would definitely stay again.

“Very good but not the best in the City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

My room was beautifully decorated but very small. The bathroom was so small it was almost impossible to move around in it. However the bed was very comfortable and I got a good nights sleep. There was however no balcony with my room.

Breakfast was very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were unlucky and it was very windy when we were there so the roof terrace was closed and we weren't able to use the pool area so i can't comment on this.

The hotel is conveniently located in the centre and you can get to most places easily. It was a good visit but I have stayed in better places in this city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

“A very nice hotel.”

I visited Heraklion city with my wife for a weekend stay and booked Astoria hotel because of its location in the historical centre and next to the market. The room of the hotel was comfortable but the balcony was rather small. The staff of the hotel was very polite while the breakfast was really very good. I recommend this hotel for a short stay in Heraklion.

“Perfect hotel, in a perfect place”

This hotel is in the heart of Heraclion market, next to local bus stations and opposite to taxi station. It has roof garden with pool,wi fi and the rooms are rennovated in modern green-lime green colors. The staff is really very polite and helpful. The mini bar and restaurant are expensive,do not use them, you can drink and eat much cheaper in 5 minute walk.
