Good place, very close to the airport you can walk it.
not great views from my window but all we wanted was a place to crash when the flight arrived at 2am took 5mins to get there 24hr reception area even the bar was still open if you wanted a beer! room OK for the price 70euros
Breakfast very good buffet style

This is such a convenient location for an overnight stay if you arrive at the airport in the late evening - only about a mile from the airport. Spacious, welcoming, with a small pool, and used to late-night arrivals, with a plentiful breakfast. The only blip was that the first room we were showed into smelt badly of stale tobacco and the AC didnt seem to work well. But the reception staff, with a little prompting, gave us a different room which we appreciated. I wouldn't want to stay more than one night as it can be quite noisy, with people arriving through the night, but I guess its main function is for airport arrivals and departures.

Catching up on writing some long overdue reviews. We stayed in the Sofia Hotel three times during our visit to Crete in January 2011. We stayed for a night when we arrived in Heraklion, then we drove to the south-eastern part of Crete and stayed there for a few days (Sasteria - excellent place, see my review). Then we returned to the Sofia Hotel for a quick stopover on our way to Chania (the drive was too long to go the whole way in one trip), stayed in Chania for a couple of nights and then returned to the Sofia Hotel for our last night in Crete since our flight was leaving pretty early in the morning from Heraklion airport. The staff was friendly (the manager even let me get onto his computer at one point to print out my boarding passes), they immediately gave us the same low rate for each of our stays, the hotel was clean, the rooms were sparse but clean. Breakfast was included - pretty standard but the lobby/bar/breakfast area was big and bright and clean. We enjoyed our visits and we'd definitely recommend this hotel as a good value.

Enjoyed a lot about this hotel... had a nice quiet sleep, restaurant, pool, okay location... The only negative was the woman who seemed to be in charge of reservations and over all help. She seemed so put out every time we asked for something, ie., an extra towel, directions... This is as close to a negative review as I have ever written...
