“Nice but no value fo rmoney”

I booked the hotel through Booking.com and generally I was disspointed. The area of Elounda offers excellent hotels, most of them expensive but when there is value for money you do not complain. I was dissaponted with the hotel. Very disappointed with the air conditioning in the middle of August - It was either very noisy not allowing you to have any sleep or out of service. Complained several times but nothing happened, it was not fixed during my stay (10 days!!!). My room door also had problems (it stayed open...) but a least this was fixed as soon as reported. Buffet breakfast was nice, nothing to report. Hotel areas are nice with a relaxing swimming pool but hotel is very far from the sea (around 700m but when you reach the beach its no good at all, you definitely need a car to move around). Hotel staff was friendly. My room was also a big dissapointment (old towels, small bathroom, very hot because of the broken A/C, I hope they redecorate soon). The biggest advantage of the hotel is that it is in Elounda, the hotel itself is nothing special, generally no value for money.

“Tired and definitely not 4 star!”

Lady on reception very unfriendly and rude. Food like school dinners, hot dishes served lukewarm at best. There is no restaurant in this hotel! The food is served in a sort of dining hall in large metal containers. Very poorly cooked. Cold dishes ok. Rooms ok but tired. The shower enclosure in the bathroom was so small it was very difficult to move in it without banging yourself against the glass or the wall..Staff apart from older lady on reception were fantastic, but seriously overworked and undermanned. We also had problems with overbooking, which meant we didn't get the bungalow we had booked but a third floor room which was a long way from the pool and reception. Upgraded to a junior suite for an extra 30 euros a night, which we were told was a bargain! Then told the following day they had cocked up again and we would have to vacate the room 3 days prior to our depature as they had someone already booked in for those 3 days! In the end we didn't have to move as the person "cancelled".

Room Tip: Would go for a junior suite, but I'd look for another hotel first.

“Very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Staff at this hotel were very friendly. We stayed in a jounor suit, 2 rooms one pool. The rooms were well fitted on suit with all you needed, private pool was excellent but main pool was also great. Very nice breakfast, evening meal basic but taste. It was a 15 minutes walk into the village which was not so enjoyable in the heat of the day. Excellent parking facilities.

Room Tip: jounor suite worth the extra money

“A little gem tucked away which deserves its reviews”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

The reviews are mostly pretty accurate (most Tripadvisor one are eh) and this indeed is a well maintained friendly hotel where the staff really do go th extra mile. Wherever you go its pretty well spotless and belies its twenty years tho its obviously had a major refit at some more recent stage

We picked it because it wasnt too big and the absence of signs everywhere adds to the chill out feel and I was horizontal by th etime we left

Yes there are issues with access but then thats what you get in Crete and as for the walk to Elounda the small lane is hardly bursting with traffic and joins the main route further down with a pavement most of the way. A small bench in some shade up the top would be a nice touch as yes the buses can be erratic but from Agious pretty well on the hour

The room was fine but yes storage can be a bit lacking and a kettle would be greats as I missed my morning cuppa

Also the transfer there took quite a while and in future I would consider hiring a car at the airport to save mucking about dropping folk as we appaeraed to be last in the loop. Journey back was fine tho.

Probably best to get the dinner earlier as it can cool a bit in the running buffet but then fresh stuff is brought out and plenty of variety. And also who wants to rush and the vibe is to roll with it.The red wine was indeed preferable to the white but again not uncommon in Greece and the local lager was very palatable.

The poolside bar and upstairs one when the weather was iffy offers good value and the barman at night has a crazy sense of humour and enjoys knocking up the cocktails

Elounda itself is so so and we spent more time in Ag Nic - great bar is above the lake which you can see perched high and no pressure to eat in the restaurant . We chilled out there looking down for a couple of hours.

We hired a car mid week to explore the south coast having done the north a while back and theres a fab Minoan city unearther at the mouth of the Mirabello bay and although there are some nice villages south we agreed the stretch we were on was nicer.

Would we go back? Yes probably at some time and I thought great value at the price but then Id also like to visit some other islands

Room Tip: Seaview maybe ask for a roomhigher up?

This is really the best hotel in Elounda ! It’s vey relaxing and peacefull .After 26 times ( twice a year )coming in the same hotel I know what I’m talking about . It really feels like coming home . People who comes for the first time do not feel like a number as in some other hotels in Elounda ! The staff is nice and gentle and do the best they can for having a super holliday . Tenia and Eirini at the reception are really great and helpful , and so are the rest !!! Our room with the beautifull view on Spinalonga is fantastic and the staff who cleans the rooms everyday are super ! They really cleaned everything !!! The food is delicious , ( Especially the sweet things , haha !!! ) , the breakfast was very good and very varied ! Katherina and Chrisanti at the buffetservice are soooo friendly , evenso Argiro , my wife’s best girlfriend .
We would recommend this hotel to everybody who’s coming for the first time to Crete . If you want a confortable and relaxing holyday , this is the place to be !!!!!! I’ll be there next year again !
