“Vacation with paparazzi's”

We stayed at porto elounda last July for 2 weeks. This is a great family resort with all kind of activities for kids, from a kids pool at the beach area, to basketball courts, watersports and even waterslides. The spa of the hotel is to die for, while food and service is excellent. What made our holiday interesting though was that during our stay 2 paparazzi's were spotted taking pictures of a couple with a young girl. They were hiding behind some trees by the beach while the couple was swimming between the main pool and the beach. Security of the hotel spotted them after 15' minutes and asked them politely to leave. When we asked the staff who was this couple, we were told that he is the most famous Greek singer and host of the Greek edition of the x factor show and she a super model. They were really nice and friendly with everyone and on our way back we saw a picture of them swimming at the pool of the hotel on the cover page of the Greek edition of ok! magazine. So that was fun since we had a story to tell when we got back.

“Best hotel in Crete!”

We stayed at porto elounda in September and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The location is fab.We ate in all restaurants at least once, for breakfast, lunch and evening meal and were extremely impressed with the standard of food and wine. We booked a room with a plunge pool which was an added bonus. What was particularly great was the private beach of the hotel. Although we did not have any treatments, we did use the spa pool which was great. We cannot say one bad thing about this hotel and we'll definitely be going back next year. We have recommended it to family and friends who will also be visiting Crete this year.

“One of the best vacations resort!”

This is one of the best vacation resorts I experienced.
I certainly will go back.

The hotel infrastructure is great, the food is excellent and the service good and friendly. It deserves all its five stars and is much better than the surrounding five stars hotels I have seen.

dinner is excellent, wines at 25 euro per bottle.
The SPA center is marvelous and the beach of the hotel the best in the area. Overall a great experience.

“Great location, but should adapt to the needs of their guests”

I have stayed twice at this lovely hotel. Last year with my family and this year solo. I always stay in this catagory of hotel, but I feel the Porto Elounda is too rigid and didnt accommodate my needs for the holiday. I was not allowed to eat my breakfast on the terrace, I was only allowed t0 take a coffee out there. The breakfast room was very cold from the air conditioning and I asked twice if i could eat outside in the sunshine and was told no. This meant I ate quickly and left, therefor not enjoying my breakfast. Also on the beach, I was not allowed to go to a quiet area called the peninsula despite there being no one on that area. The main beach by the bar had many children and I really came for some peace and quiet. When I checked out no one asked me if I enjoyed my stay. I do like the hotel, for the tennis, great coach, and the excellent Spa. Though not sure if I shall return a third time.

Dear Guest,
On behalf of all our staff I would like to thank you for taking the time to review our property, porto elounda. I would also like to thank you for your kind words regarding the location of our property, our hotel in general, our tennis courts and our multi-awarded Six Senses Spa. We are very glad that you visited porto elounda for the second time. Creating repeat clientele is a very important and difficult goal and we are really proud that our property has a large number of them.
Regarding your important comments please note that we use to operate the outside area of Nafsika restaurant for breakfast but none of the clients preferred it as it was too sunny, so we decided to only operate the indoors part of the restaurant. As you may understand it is impossible for us to provide the level of service we like to in such a large area for a small number of clients. Regarding your comment about the private sandy beach of our sister property elounda peninsula, please note that the elounda peninsula all suite hotel does not operate in October, the period you stayed with us, therefore our staff could not serve the private beach of a property not in operation.
Having cleared the air, we are looking forward in welcoming you back at porto elounda for the third time.
Best Regards
Alex Glynos

“Excellent Family Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We absolutely loved our stay at Porto Elounda and for the first time on any holiday are considering going back again next year. We went with our 16mnth baby and the hotel was perfect for us. The beach is small, private, shallow and very safe, the baby pool is lovely and there is a fantastic creche, play area and even a mini water park! The buffet breakfast in the mornings was fantastic, really delicious and so much to choose from. We went B&B so we had the option of eating at the hotel or walking into town (25mins downhill) and getting a taxi back (E7). The restaurants in town were lovely, very reasonably priced and very family friendly. The buffet evening meal was very good value but I think we might have tired of it every evening. The room service was excellent but expensive but we found the children's portions are really big so if you're not a huge eater worth considering. The hotel restaurants were all quite well heeled and not so suitable for small children - they are also very expensive!! Eating by the pool/beach was ok, prices ranged from E12 for a toasted sandwich and chips to E22 for a huge club sandwich with chips. The rooms were lovely (if a touch dated if I was being really fussy) with beautiful views over the bay. The staff were amazing, so helpful and so friendly. Finally the spa was literally out of this world, one of the best I've ever been to!
If I was being really picky my only criticism would be that Elounda is on the easterly side of the island so by 5ish the beach was in the shade and if you'd paid for a room with a pool, it would be in the shade by noon. It didn't bother us as we headed back to our room by then but if I'd paid for a room with a pool I'd be gutted if the pool was in the shade all afternoon...

Room Tip: The junior suite rooms are great if you have children as you can easily fit a couple of cots in the...
